EASY SAUSAGE GRAVY
One of my fondest childhood memories was spending the night with my grandparents and waking up to my grandma making a classic big country breakfast for us including our favorite homemade sausage gravy. This recipe is a great weekend breakfast tradition that everyone will love. Surprise your loved ones with a classic country breakfast this weekend of sausage gravy and biscuits!
HOW TO MAKE HOMEMADE SAUSAGE GRAVY
The great news about this sausage gravy with evaporated milk is that it’s simple to make and requires very little prepping and ingredients. (If you have 10 minutes, you have time!)
Ingredients:
- 1 Pound Mild Breakfast Sausage (we prefer turkey)
- 2 Tablespoons All Purpose Flour
- 1 Cup DairyPure Milk
- 1 Cup Evaporated Milk
- Salt & Pepper to taste
Prep Time: 10 mins Total Time: 10 mins
Render sausage in nonstick skillet until browned and crumbling. Remove sausage from skillet but reserve grease/oil from cooking for gravy. (Place it in a bowl and guard it with your life!)
Turn to low/medium heat and mix in flour making certain to scrape the bottom of the pan for sausage bits. Don’t leave any behind!
The flour/grease mixture will form a smooth paste. For richer flavor allow this to cook for 3-4 minutes and brown.
Increase heat to medium/high and gradually pour in milk stirring constantly to avoid clumps. Add in evaporated milk and stir combining well. Cook for 3-4 minutes on medium heat. (Don’t get distracted here…!)
Reduce to low, taste and add salt and pepper to taste. Serve over fresh made biscuits or with toast.
This whole recipe can be whipped up in about 10 minutes, giving you a filling start to your morning without a lot of effort. Since it’s all mixed up in the same pan, there’s little clean-up!

Love biscuits and gravy! I bet the evaporated milk gives it an extra creaminess too. :) I hope you can stop on by and share this or any other recipe with us on Five Friday Finds!
