York Peppermint Turnovers Recipe

Making turnovers is really easy, and you can customize them with whatever your favorite filling or flavor is. I love chocolate and peppermint flavors together and they are perfect for the holiday season and New Year’s parties, so that’s the combination I like best.

Don’t be afraid to experiment and make them your own creation, though. This York Peppermint Turnovers recipe is so quick that it’s perfect to whip up as a last minute treat for your holiday parties!

York Peppermint Patty Turnovers

You’ll need:

  • 1 package (8oz can) original crescent rolls
  • 1 package peppermint patty candies
  • ¾ cup chopped dark chocolate (chips or baking chocolate)
  • 3 Tbls white chocolate chips (for topping)
  • 3 Tbls dark chocolate chips (for topping)
  • 1 cup crushed peppermint candy (for topping)

York Turnovers

To make the turnovers, you’ll pop open your crescent roll dough and roll it out onto a baking sheet making one flat sheet of dough. Press all the seams together to create a uniform sheet of dough without holes. Chop up your candy filling of York peppermint patties and a bar of chocolate or you can use chocolate chips. Put all of your candy filling in a line down the center of your dough.

Fold both edges in towards the center to top your row of candy filling. Press the top together to create a seam and make sure you seam the edges as well to create a tight seal. Pop your turnovers into the oven and bake for 11-13 minutes, until they are golden brown.

When they are done cooking, allow your turnovers to cool for a few minutes. Then, cut into triangle shaped pieces and separate the turnovers while they are still warm. After your turnovers cool completely, melt dark chocolate chips or broken bits and drizzle over the top of your turnovers.

Then, before your chocolate cools, sprinkle crushed peppermint pieces onto the top of the melted chocolate on your turnovers. As your turnovers cool, the peppermint will stay in place.

  • 1 package peppermint patty candies
  • ¾ cup chopped dark chocolate (chips or baking chocolate)
  • 3 Tbs dark chocolate chips (for topping)
  • 1 cup crushed peppermint candy (for topping)

  3. Chop York peppermint patties into small pieces (1/4” or less). Sprinkle chopped chocolate and the prepared peppermint patties down the center of the dough.
  4. Carefully fold your dough over the filling and then fold both ends under. Again, pinch all seems and ends together to create a tight seal.
  5. Bake in preheated oven for 11-13 minutes or until golden brown.
  6. Allow to cool for several minutes and cut into triangular pieces, separating while still warm.
  7. Once turnovers are completely cool, melt the dark chocolate and drizzle over the top of your turnovers. While chocolate is still warm, sprinkle the crushed peppermint over the turnovers so the peppermint will set as the chocolate hardens.
