Easy Dinner Recipes: Gourmet Sausage Gumbo Recipe

I was challenged to try a recipe with the new sausage by Hillshire Farm, Gourmet Creations Sausage, so we came up with a mix of our Jambalaya and Gumbo easy dinner recipes we love and came up with this great meal! If you want something filling, extremely tasty, and unlike anything you’ve probably had before, you have got to give this Sausage Gumbo Recipe a try!

Sausage Gumbo Recipe

Gourmet Sausage Gumbo

– Cooked Chicken (We use a Chicken Fryer with meat pulled from off the Chicken)
– Kosher Salt and Black Pepper
– Vegetable Oil – 1/4 cup
– Hillshire Farm Gourmet Creations Sausage
– Butter – 5 Tbls
– Garlic – 8 cloves, Minced
– Celery – 3 Stalks, Chopped
– Onion – Diced
– Green Pepper – Chopped
– Worcestershire Sauce – 1/4 cup
– Parsley – 1/4 of a bunch Chopped Coarsley
– Beef Bullion Cubes – 5 cubes
– Crushed Red Pepper
– 2 cups Cooked Rice
– Top with Cheese, Pineapple, Green Onions & Sour Cream

Cook chicken breasts or a whole chicken with Kosher Salt and Pepper to taste in 1/4 cup of Vegetable Oil until browned. Remove chicken. Brown Hillshire Farm Gourmet Creations Sausage, then remove from pan. Melt 5 Tbls of butter and sprinkle 1/4 cup of flour in. Add in minced garlic. Stir consistently so it doesn’t burn until bubbly and starts to turn brown, about 10 minutes. Add in celery, onion, green pepper and Worcestershire Sauce. Stir and cook for 15 minutes. Add in parsley. Add in 4.5 cups of water and 5 beef bullion cubes. Add in crushed red pepper (adds spice, optional). Cook for 1 hour, stirring occasionally.

Dish cooked rice into bowl. Top the rice with your Gumbo and then add cheese, dollop of sour cream, green onions, and pineapple. Enjoy!

Sausage Gumbo

This recipe is absolutely delicious! We make it up almost like a Hawaiian Haystacks with the pineapple added on top but much more gourmet and premium. It absolutely tastes just like something you would eat at a restaurant and I always go back for seconds!
