These flat breads are about 9 inches in diameter.
- 4 cups all purpose flour- slightly more than needed.(fresh ground spelt flour)
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp. salt
- 2 cups plain low fat yogurt ( greek)
- Stir together dry ingredients, then stir in the yogurt. knead this dough for about 5 minutes until it is well stuck together. Let rest in an oiled covered bowl for at least an hour. Break into 10 equal sized balls. press out on floured board less than ¼ inch thick. Heat oven with pizza stone to 500 degrees. Place dough on stone for 3 minutes, turn let bake for another 3 minutes. This time might need to be adjusted as you bake.
I started this process by getting ready to grind my flour. You can use regular flour for this recipe.
This is a 15 oz bag.
Which produced 4 cups of flour, the exact amount needed for this recipe.
After we mixed it together in a bowl, my grandchildren kneaded it for 5 minutes. Then we placed it into a covered, oiled bowl.
We let it set for a couple of hours, because we were busy playing….
Because this dough was a bit tacky, I chose to press it out onto parchment paper. I sprayed the top with an oil spray before placing it onto the stone at 500 degrees.
This was the finished product. When they first came out of the oven, we tried one with just butter melted on it. Really good. Then I sprinkled some cinnamon sugar on the butter. Really Really good. My grandson preferred it without the cinnamon sugar.
That night for supper, I made them into mini pizza’s for myself and husband.
You could also use these for a Guero sandwich, or anything else that your imagination took you too. Have fun and enjoy. Granny
