Making your own homemade playdough is a really fun project that will get your kids creating and having fun in the kitchen with you.
You’ll need just a few very basic ingredients and under 10 minutes of time and you’ll have your own homemade playdough. Then, have fun customizing your playdough with your own unique colors!
You Will Need:
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup salt
- 1/2 cup water
- 3 tsp. white vinegar
- 2 tbsp olive oil
Directions:
In a medium sauce pan, BEFORE you turn on the stove whisk together your flour and salt. Turn on the stove to a low heat and add your water. Whisk until your mixture is nice and smooth. Keep on whisking while you add in white vinegar and olive oil.
At this point, switch to a rubber spatula. Continue to stir your mixture until it reaches the consistency of playdough. This will usually take just a minute or two! When it’s the right consistency, remove from the heat and allow to cool.
If you want to make fun colors, separate your dough into as many colors as you would like. Make a little indent in your individual dough balls and then drop food coloring onto the dough. Knead your dough working in the color everywhere.
You can leave the dough with a marbled look or keep on kneading until the color is consistent. Once you’ve mixed in the food coloring a little bit, you can let the kids help knead the dough, it’s a great way to get them involved. Let them pick their color, too!
What color would you turn your homemade playdough?
