Chicken and Dumplings Recipe
What is your favorite comfort food? As the chill of fall fills the air, I love curling up in a blanket and eating my favorite comfort food: chicken and dumplings. When I was a little girl, I would beg my mom to cook dumplings for dinner. Now as an adult, I love carrying on the tradition of making chicken and dumplings for my own family.
- 8 cups of chicken broth
- 3-4 chicken breasts (frozen works fine)
- 3 large carrots
- 2 large celery stocks
- ½ T garlic powder
- 2 cups Bisquick mix
- 2 cups milk
- In a large saucepan, combine chicken broth and chicken breasts
- Allow chicken to boil until cooked thoroughly (until chicken is no longer pink)
- Once chicken is cooked, shred and return to chicken broth
- Dice carrots and celery
- Combine diced carrots and celery into chicken broth
- Once carrots and celery are soft, add garlic powder
- Bring chicken broth mixture to a boil
- In a separate bowl, combine and stir Bisquick mix and milk
- Drop dumplings by the spoonful into boiling chicken broth
- Cook dumplings uncovered for 10 minutes
- Cover saucepan and allow Chicken and Dumplings to simmer for additional 10 minutes
I love making this Chicken and Dumplings recipe for friends and family. This is one of my favorite “go-to” recipes whenever we have company over. Who doesn’t love a delicious bowl of dumplings?
