If you are looking for a couple great children’s CDs for your kids to sing and dance to, look no further than It’s Not Fair to Me and KidQuake! They both are fun to listen to and will definitely have mom and dad laughing and singing along too! Here is a little more about each album.
Seven-time GRAMMY nominee Bill Harley and acclaimed songster Keith Munslow celebrate the release of It’s Not Fair to Me on February 12th. Harley and Munslow bring years of performing and friendship to a wacky collection of songs that range from the spooky “Stinkeye” to the blues send-up “Give Me Back My Hat.”
Bill and Keith co-wrote the title song after a contest last spring hosted by Mindy Thomas of SiriusXM’s Kids Place Live. After considering hundreds of kids’ song title suggestions, Keith and Bill chose the perennial issue of sibling rivalry with “It’s Not Fair to Me.” Other songs on the album, about misbehaving dogs, whining little brothers, and ugly sweaters, showcase a wide range of styles and topics that find Harley and Munslow at their songwriting and performing best. The duo plan a series of family concerts this winter and spring.
Review – What better way to stop my kids from arguing on the way to school than listening to two grown men bickering? My kids think this album is hilarious and can’t get enough of Bill and Keith’s antics. I love their title track, It’s Not Fair to Me, and Hideous Sweater (which reminds me of my Ugly Christmas Sweaters I have stored in my closet!) This album is great for boys and girls of all ages! They will all find something to laugh at no matter what age they are! My 4-year-old laughs just as hard as I do when we are listening to It’s Not Fair to Me! I would recommend this creative new album to anyone with kids!
The Not-Its are back with another musically sound and sonically charged album filled with raw, kinetic energy. As the name implies, KidQuake! contains properties that will invoke lots of sudden movement. In other words, get ready to body rock!
In addition to being a part of the wildly talented Kindiependent contingent, The Not-Its are made up of veteran indie musicians (lead singer, Sarah Shannon was the former singer of 90′s Sub Pop band Velocity Girl), Danny Adamson (rhythm guitar), Tom Baisden (lead guitar), Jennie Helman (bass player) and Michael Welke (former drummer of Harvey Danger) who channel their rock/pop/punk sensibilities into making rockin’ kid tunes. They also happen to be experienced parents, with a total of 10 children amongst themselves, ranging from ages 2 through 9, which makes for highly relatable topics the whole family will enjoy!
Review – KidQuake is an exciting new upbeat album that out whole family loves! Every song will have you boppin’ your head and singing along to the funny lyrics! My 8-year-old loves the Rock, Paper, Scissors song. I had no idea that my 4-year-old had a song written just for him! Temper Tantrum describes his meltdowns perfectly! Luckily he is about ready to outgrow this stage of his life! My favorite was Tarantula Funeral. I just held a tarantula for the first time last week so it reminded me of that terrifying, but eye-opening experience! This was a super cute album for the whole family!
