At Mother’s Day every year my thoughts dwell on the amazing mothers and grandmothers in my life. I have been blessed with amazing women to help support me and most of all to love me. Many times in my life their love and comfort was the only thing that keep me going. When I feel lost, my mother is there to help find me.
One of these important women, was my grandmother Billie. I was the first grandchild in the family. My Grandma Billie, whom I called Nanny, doted on me. I think I was a bit spoiled. I have many pictures of me as a baby and I’m in her arms.
All I have now is pictures. In 1984, when I was 4 years old, I lost Nanny to Breast Cancer. Although I was very little, her passing made a huge impact on me. Throughout the years I’ve always had a special connection with her. As I write this post, I have tears in my eyes as I think about the love I’ve always felt from her, even if she wasn’t here.
Since her passing, Breast Cancer awareness has been important in our family. We also know that breast cancer awareness also means you must be actively aware. Self-exams and mammograms are not just important, they are mandatory. I don’t want to lose another important woman, or man, from my life to breast cancer. Early diagnosis can save lives.
In 2006 Ford created the Warriors in Pink line of clothing and gear. 100% of the net proceeds from all wear and gear sales is dedicated to the cause with donations going to charities that offer a wide-range of support. These are not the typical breast cancer awareness shirts. Warriors in Pink has clothing and accessories for men, women and children that includes their unique warrior branding that includes different symbols that represent the different ways breast cancer can effect our lives. Combining the symbols together create a beautiful pattern filled with meaning and hope.
I was able to try the Beautiful Dreamer PJ pants and Strength of the Warrior Tee. Not only are they beautiful, they are comfortable as well. The material is soft, and the colors vibrant. I received many compliments when I wore my tee out and about. The pattern is eye catching.
Thanks to Ford’s Warriors In Pink line of wear and gear, $4,297,286 has been donated to make sure breast cancer awareness is a part of the daily conversation and that both men and women engage in self-exams.
