Joovy is an American company with facilities in both Dallas, TX and Orange County, CA. They develop high quality gear for families that incorporate practical features, stylish designs, and lots of extras. One of their newest products is a series of two fun Ride-On Vehicles! The 4×4 Ride-On is a “top-of-the-line battery powered vehicle for children”. The 4×4 Ride-On uses top grade motors and batteries, real lights, and includes an on/off key. It can drive in 2-speeds plus reverse – low speed drives 2.5 MPH and a high speed that cruises at 5 MPH. Plus, the Ride-On also has two built in motors, one for each rear wheel. The Ride-On comes with a 12-volt battery and charge and a 3-position adjustable seat.
My boys had a blast with the Joovy 4×4 Ride-On Jeep! They were so excited about their “car” especially my 18 month old who just couldn’t stop telling us and pointing “car!!” and climbing it while we were putting the Ride-On vehicle together. Setup was pretty easy but the battery does need to charge a full 8-10 hours before the first use. We put together the Jeep in the evening so we told the boys they could ride on it first thing the next morning and plugged the Ride-On in to charge when we went off to bed. First thing in the morning the boys couldn’t WAIT to go drive the Ride-On! We had our 5 year old go first as he picked up the controls really quickly and we had no problems with him at all. Our 3 year old was more of a dare devil and we had to keep reminding him to turn away from cars and obstacles and to pay attention, but he mastered the controls really easily. The 4×4 Ride-On is made for ages 3 and up, but my 18 month old was pulling his big brothers OUT so he could have his turn! We turned it to low speed and I followed along beside him turning the steering wheel and he pushed the pedal to make it go. He was definitely too young to drive the Ride-On without some help. All three of my boys absolutely love the Joovy 4×4 Ride-On!
I really loved all the unique little details like working headlights, a storage compartment in the “spare wheel” well, and the adjustable seat which made it comfortable for all 3 of my boys and their different sizes. The 4×4 Ride-On is definitely a powerful vehicle which we quickly noticed the few times the kids went up and over the curb rather than turning. The Joovy had no problem navigating over the curve to get up on the curb. What I was REALLY impressed with was the battery! We played with the Ride-On on 3 different occasions before the battery finally ran out of a charge. I think we got in a good 2 hours of ride time in before the battery ran out. This meant that everyone got to have LOTS of turns and no fights and tears when the battery ran out before the kids had their fun!
