Wonder Forge Game Review

We received a selection of Wonder Forge games to review and my boys were thrilled when the package of games arrived! We own several of Wonder Forge’s games so we knew we’d be getting some really neat and unique games!! The first one we tried was Curious George Discovery Beach Game. In this game a player flips over a card which tells them what hidden item to search for, adding to the list of not yet found pieces. Then, the spinner tells you where to look, or sometimes give you the choice of location. My boys loved this game and especially when they spun a “wave” and got to mix up the whole box! Since all the pieces are enclosed inside the game there is no mess which makes this a win for mom as well!! Curious George Discovery Beach Game is geared towards ages 3 and up and retails for $16.99. There is a similar Discovery Garden game as well.

The next game we pulled out to try was Richard Scarry’s Busytown: Eye found it! Game. This game includes a LONG game board that is put together like a puzzle in 3 sections. Players work together trying to make their way to Picnic Island before all the food is eaten. They spin and move on their turn until someone lands on “Goldbug” and then players work together to try to find as many of a specific object as they can before the timer runs out. My son loved this game but had a hard time with the seek portion of the game. He would stress out about the timer and not focus to actually search! When I took away the timer he did better, but was still kind of hard for him to focus and really search. You do not need the search aspect to play the game though so he still loved the game and as everyone searches for the mystery objects on the board together he didn’t feel frustrated. This game is extremely cute and my son LOVES that the board is longer than him! Richard Scarry’s Busytown Eye fount it! Game retails for $19.99 and plays with 2-4 kids suggested ages 3 and up.

Another game we were able to preview is a new game for 2011, Chuggington: Let’s Ride the Rails! Game. This game is all about cooperation as no one has an individual train. You all work collectively to get the trains to the end of their tracks and try to figure out which animal is the mystery animal. My boys had a hard time not “claiming” one of the trains as their own. It was also a little bit confusing for them to understand and read the track lines as the trains seperate off to different paths following their colored lines on the board. They LOVED the 3D trains and collecting animals to put on board the trains, though. Chugginton: Let’s Ride the Rails! retails for $19.99 and can be played with 1 or more player aged 3+.

Wonder Forge Game Review

Our favorite game of the 4 we recieved was Richard Scarry’s Busytown: Busy, Busy Airport Game. This game is so adorbable with each player getting to build and then fly their own airplane! you set up your 4 destinations at different points around the room. Then, on your turn you roll to see if you can pick up passengers or fly to a destination. when you drop of passengers at the right destination you get to collect souveniers which have a hidden value. The game is simple to learn which makes it easy to jump right in to play and my boys LOVED flying their planes off to different areas of our room! The souveiner cards are very small though, and could easily be lost. Busy, Busy Airport is new for 2011. It reatils for $19.99 and is made for 2-4 players ages 3+.
