Strawberry Angel Food Poke Cake Recipe

There’s nothing like waiting until the last minute. If you were unexpectedly invited to a party or just looking for a inexpensive desert the Angel Food Poke cake is the way to go! It gives the dish a little extra something special.

All you will need to make a Strawberry Angel Food Poke Cake is:
  • Store bought angel food cake (of make one if you have time!)
  • Box of Strawberry Jello
  • 1 c strawberries, quarted
  • ¼ c orange juice

You can also top your dessert with vanilla ice cream or whip cream, if desired.

You’ll start by bringing a cup of water to a boil. While your water is heating up, take a straw an poke holes throughout your angel food cake.

Jello Angel Food Poke Cake

When your water is boiling, add your Jello mix into the water and stir well until dissolved. Add a half a cup of cold water and continue stirring.

When your jello mix is well combined and still hot, pour the jello water over the top of your angel food cake evenly coating the top of the cake.

You don’t need to use all the Jello mix, just make sure everything is well coated. You can put the rest of your jello in a bowl in the fridge to set up as Jello and enjoy that later.

Your Angel Food Poke cake is almost ready! Just stick it in the fridge for 4-5 hours to allow the Jello time to set up. Place your strawberries into a separate bowl with the orange juice and let marinate.

When you are ready to serve, you will drizzle your strawberry and OJ mixture on top of the cake along side vanilla ice cream or whipping cream, if desired.

Ingredients:
  • Angel food cake (store bought or homemade if you have time)
  • Box of Strawberry Jello
  • 1 c strawberries, quartered
  • ¼ c orange juice
Directions:
  1. Boil 1 cup of water. While the water is boiling take a straw and begin to poke holes through the angel food cake.
  2. Once the water has been brought to a boil add in your jello, stirring well. You want to dissolve the jello. Add in a half cup of cold water and continue to stir.
  3. Next, carefully pour the hot jello water over the top of the food cake. Ensuring you coat the top of the angel food cake. You will probably have some left over and that is just fine! Pour any extra into a bowl and set in the fridge for a couple hours and you'll have yourself some jello...or make jello shots, it's your choice!
  4. Place the Angel Food Poke Cake in the fridge for 4-5 hours. Let the jello set up.
  5. Place the strawberries in a separate bowl with the orange juice and let marinate in the fridge.
  6. Serve by plating the poke cake first and then drizzle with the strawberry and OJ mixture on top of the cake. Top with a dab of cool whip or Redd-Whip and enjoy!
