Staying Healthy in the Fall

Fall is a wonderful time in Arizona. Although we don’t get the changing leaves (except in Northern AZ) we do get a reprieve of the Hades like temperatures that make Arizona so…pleasant? We finally start spending a bit more time outdoors. Pumpkin patches are visited and families plan Halloween costumes and Thanksgiving gatherings. Unfortunately, with all the fun that fall brings, it also brings and increase of illnesses. With 5 kids, it seems like sometimes we spend the entire Fall passing along one illness after another.

I was provided with samples and compensation in exchange for this post. All opinions are my own.

Staying Healthy in the Fall

Follow these tips and perhaps you will have some success staying healthy in the fall.

Use Fitness Fight Back

Keeping active and regularly exercising helps keep your immune system, as well as your body healthy. Weather permitting, take walks and hikes as a family. Visit an apple orchard and pick apples together. When the weather doesn’t allow it, have an indoor dance party or pop in an exercise tape (kids love trying to follow along with the instructor).

Sleep

This one is always a hard one for anyone with kids. Sleep is your body’s way of recharging it’s battery. You would never let your cellphone battery die, so give yourself an extra charge and get enough sleep.

Wash, wash, wash!

As simple as it sounds, it’s so important to wash your hands. Use soap and warm water for at least 30 seconds.. My favorite tip a nurse friend told me was singing “Happy Birthday” while you wash your hands to make sure you take enough time. Definitely a song your children will know!

Vitamins and Minerals

Your body needs the right kind of fuel to keep running. Making sure your diet is full of healthy fruits and vegetables is great for staying healthy in the fall. But we all know kids won’t always eat those fruits and veggies. Luckily, we have vitamins available on the market to help get kids (and adults) some of those essential vitamins and minerals they may be lacking in their diet. When it comes to selecting the best multivitaman for your family, look no further than Rainbow Light.

20141020_084839I have been completely impressed with Rainbow Light’s children’s products.  My girls love the taste of the Gummy Bear Essentials, and love that they get more than one! I am totally excited to try out the Prenatal Precious Gems for my next pregnancy, seriously gummy prenatals? Maybe I’ll actually remember to take them! My littlest enjoys the crunchy sweet/sour mix of the kid’s NutriStars. It’s become one of her favorite parts of her breakfast routine. I was super excited to see that Rainbow Light’s products are gluten free and contain probiotics.

We're all over gummies for our vitamins and keeping us healthy! If I don't keep them well, they'll get me sick!

We definitely need to stay healthy. With the kids inside for recess more at school, and germs just flying everywhere, we are working to stay healthy! Great tips!

I was just telling my husband that we needed to stock up on vitamins for the oncoming season. Thanks for reminding me. I'm going to go out and get some of these!

These sound like great vitamins. What is the sugar content? I need to put my kids on vitamins.

With three kids it seems like we are always battling something. My FIL just had a bone marrow transplant so it is really important that we all stay healthy this season
