Cool Tuna Lunches For Hot Summer Days

Cool Tuna Lunches For Hot Summer Days

Bumble Bee’s tuna recipes and summertime lunches just go together. Quick, easy and nutritious meals are a snap when you pair low calorie tuna with fresh vegetables, pasta, whole grain breads and tempting fruit desserts.

Tuna is high in protein and can be used for hot or cold dishes that make light and tasty meals that are easy on the cook as well as the budget.

Tuna Sandwiches And Salads

Use light mayonnaise to reduce calories or use pesto, vinaigrette or tapenade to moisten your tuna mixture. Mince onion, celery, olives and peppers to add color, crunch and flavor to your mixture.

Tuna salad stuffed into pita bread or whole grain buns, tortillas or wraps make cool and satisfying sandwiches. Provide bowls of sliced avocado, pickles, onion, lettuce and other add-ons so everyone can make their own special creation.

Add a dollop of tuna salad to a bed of greens and dress with light vinaigrette or dilled low-fat yoghurt for a dieter’s dream luncheon. Crusty rolls, grilled with a light coating of garlic butter add crunch and savory flavor.

Tuna Pasta Salad Entrees

Cook up your favorite shape of pasta, drain and cool to room temperature. Add your choice of crunchy vegetables such as celery, onion, pepper and jicama. Thawed frozen peas, crumbled hardboiled egg and cucumber are also tasty additions. Your favorite shredded cheese or crumbled Feta adds extra flavor. Blend in flaked Bumblebee Tuna and a light ranch, Greek vinaigrette or dilled yoghurt dressing. Chill and serve with crunchy bread or rolls.

For a rich and creamy salad, throw caution to the wind and use mayonnaise and sour cream spiked with garlic, dill or other favorite herbs and a splash of Italian dressing. Add diced celery, halved cherry tomatoes and grated carrot. Blend in flaked tuna and garnish with avocado slices and sprinkle with sunflower seeds. To reduce the fat and calorie count, substitute light mayonnaise and fat-free sour cream.

Finish your summertime luncheon with a light dessert of grilled fresh pineapple slices, a light fruit sorbet studded with fresh fruit, frozen yoghurt topped with cherry compote or a fresh fruit salad.

Bumblebee Tuna is a must-have for every kitchen pantry. Use it for quick lunches, satisfying suppers and party appetizers. The cook will never be at a loss for a fast and easy emergency dish that is sure to please guests and family alike. Tuna is a healthful alternative to high calorie, high fat protein and adds nutrition and flavor to every meal.

Reading this kind of put me in the mood for tuna salad soon. Ā We like to mix ours with some mayo and a little pit of sliced pickles or relish. Ā I don't like olives, but I bet my husband would like adding them to his. Ā Thanks!
