Do you love your Patio or Deck? Sears Giveaway! #SummerwithSears

Here in Arizona we have sunny days nearly year round! While the summer days are extra hot here and we don’t spend a ton of time outdoors in the middle of the day but my kids love the outside so much that they will go outside early in the mornings and play with the water table to help stay cool and play outside. Come fall, though, we will spend tons of time outside playing and enjoying the sun and beautiful weather! Here are some of our favorite backyard activities!

Favorite Backyard Activities

Water Table and Kiddie Pool– Anything to do with water is a huge hit! During the summer water activities are a must to stay cool. My 3 year old would spend the entire day in a bath or pool if I let him, he is my water baby, so our Water Table always sees a ton of use!

Gardening– Here in Arizona we can garden year round so we built in several large gardening areas into our backyard design. We love growing tomatoes, onions, peppers, garlic, herbs, and more. It is always so much fun watching as the seeds begin to sprout and letting our children learn about growing foods. They seem to be much more willing to eat the things they see growing and I always catch my little ones snacking on the cherry tomatoes when we grow them! This year, we’ve been excited to watch our grape plant start to produce fruit for the first time!

Backyard Barbecues– As the weather begins to cool we love heading outdoors to barbecue and entertain! We have a small home so the ability to use our patio as an outdoor living space gives us the extra room we need to have room for the kids to play, adults to visit, and a place to eat. Plus, is keeps our home nice and cool inside without the heat of cooking and is nearly always much easier clean-up to enjoy barbecue foods!

Riding Bikes– My patio is always filled with bikes! We have one in every size and style, it seems. My boys absolutely love to ride around our paved patio. They set up races or obstacle courses to drive through and it never seems to get old.

Many times we’ve had my nieces and nephews over and the kids have all spent countless hours playing, exploring, riding, and laughing together in the backyard. We love that the backyard provides an atmosphere for active play, imagination, and memory building that is away from the electronics that seem to consume most of the indoor time these days.

These are just some of my favorite activities that my family enjoys on our patio. What activities do you and your family enjoy on your patio? Answer the question below and one of my readers will win a $25 Sears gift card!
