I really excited that I get to be part of a mini backyard makeover series in behalf of great store, Kmart! Kmart has a full line of outdoor living products and so many items to choose from that I literally have spent more than 5 hours pouring over their website and dreaming up a plan! Let me show you some of my thoughts as well as my backyard current!
Step 1 – Before
My backyard was in pretty bad shape with toys everywhere and badly in need of being swept. I spared you the weeds and picked those before this picture, but it still needed lots of help at this point!
Step 2 – After Clean-Up and “Official” Before
Next, I put away all the toys and everything else back to it’s place and cleaned up the patio. I also got rid of a few things I have been meaning to donate. This is my “official” before picture as this is how my yard looks if I can just keep it all clean and orderly, which can sometimes be hard with 3 little ones.
Planning and Dreaming “Wish Lists”
It is SO hard to narrow down my choices and pick a theme for my back yard! Here are my three final design inspirations! My $200 budget won’t be able to fit in everything from any of the plans, but I will be going to the store with these plans in mind! I won’t necessarily stick to just one of the plans, though, as I love them all!
This plan includes fun play areas like that awesome Skyward Summit Climber, interesting and unique lighting, pops of colors and textures and just all around fun elements! Plus, some foldaway seating that makes it easy to sit right by the kids as they move about the yard.
This plan would great an outdoor “kitchen” space with dining area, grill for cooking like this Gas & Charcoal Grill, clock just like indoors, and a pretty arbor entrance to my garden to separate that space.
Since my backyard is pretty small if I want more of an open patio feel for entertaining then this plan would be perfect! Very comfortable and nice seating from Kmart’s Hillrose Collection with lots of great extra touches – a firepit, water feature, planters, lighting, pillows, and a portable storage unit to keep all cushions in like new condition.

Which one of my plans above would YOU pick? I would LOVE feedback and suggestions!

I love that you included cleaning and reorganizing as the first step of your makeover! It's such an important part of the process but people often forget it…
