Homemade Root Beer Barbecue Sauce Recipe
Summer is just around the corner and that means family get-togethers and barbecues. This homemade Root Beer Barbecue Sauce recipe is a perfect addition to any summer cookout. Simple and inexpensive to make with loads of flavor. This free printable turns it into a fabulous gift for Father’s Day, birthdays, or a housewarming tucked into a basket of BBQ goodies.

Ingredients:
- 1 ½ cups root beer
- ¼ cup apple cider vinegar
- ¼ cup brown sugar
- 1 15 oz. can diced tomatoes
- ½ tsp. Cumin
- 1/2-1 tsp. Cayenne pepper
- 1 small or medium onion, diced.
- 2 Tbsp. canola or vegetable oil
Directions:
Pour oil into saucepan over medium-high heat.
Saute until onions start to become translucent.
Add all remaining ingredients and simmer on low for 45 minutes.

Let sauce cool completely, or blend half at a time, leaving a steam escape or you will have a mess!
Use a blender or an immersion blender to puree ingredients.
Simmer for an additional hour.
Cool sauce completely.
Pour into a pint sized mason jar.
Keep refrigerated for up to a month.

Decorate your jar by printing out the printable label on card stock. Print the label at 3 ½ x 5 photo size to perfectly fit a pint jar. Right click on the image below to save it or click to view the image full page and save it from there.
I used kraft paper for an aged look and cut around label and simply taped it to the front of jar. Finish by wrapping some twine or raffia around a few times before tying it off.
