Keeping Healthy On-The-Go + Green Smoothie Recipe

Sometimes it seems that the busier life gets, the harder it becomes to keep up with healthy habits. Being a mother, I’ve come to realize that I’m the gatekeeper to my family’s health – if I want a healthy family, I need to do my best to enforce healthy habits. Because life doesn’t seem to slow down, it’s important to find ways to incorporate healthy habits while on-the-go. With the start of the new school year, now is the perfect time to instill healthy habits in your own home!

Keeping Healthy On-The-Go

Start your day off with a nutritious breakfast. I find that when I take the time to make sure that my family has a delicious breakfast packed full of vitamins and minerals, it motivates me to continue encouraging healthy habits throughout the rest of the day. But what if you have picky eaters in the family? Try hiding veggies in food. My family LOVES a good green smoothie. The best part about making green smoothies – my son doesn’t even realize that he’s eating healthy. Give this strawberry peach green smoothie a try!

Ingredients:
  • 2 cups spinach
  • 1/2 cup strawberries
  • 1/2 cup peaches
  • 1 cup almond milk

Instructions:

Place all of your ingredients in your blender. Start with liquid ingredients on the bottom and continue with firmer ingredients. If you don’t use frozen fruit, add one cup of ice in the blender. Blend until smooth.

If you feel that the taste of spinach is too overpowering, you can always add more fruit to make it sweeter. Try this same recipe substituting different kinds of fruit – blueberries, pineapples, mangoes, etc.

Include your children in daily workouts. Eating a green smoothie will give you the perfect amount of energy to kick-start your morning workout. At a young age, start teaching your children about the importance of exercise by including them in your daily exercise routine. Whether it’s holding them while doing squats, taking them on stroller rides around the neighborhood, or running around the yard with them, teach them healthy habits at an early age.
