Tomorrow is Mother’s Day which gives us the opportunity to really thank all of the mothers in our lives for all that they do for us. Women are really so hard on themselves. We think, in order to be a “good mom” we have to enroll our kids in all kinds of extra curricular activities, prepare all home-cooked meals, attend every PTA meeting, and of course never hand off our phone or device for a minutes break. The list can go on-and-on of all the things we think we are supposed to be doing just to keep up with everyone else.
But here’s a little secret… you’re already doing GREAT as a mother! Just look around you! What little things do you see everywhere you look that you’ve had a hand in? If nothing else, a glance at your smiling child can show you that all those endless hours of things we are responsible for as mothers are being poured into something fabulous.
Here are my four powerful little reminders that all that I do matters.
My husband has already been spoiling me for Mother’s Day. He went on our church’s annual Fathers & Sons camp-out trip last night. Since I have all little boys my husband always takes all the ones old enough to go on the trip and I get to just do whatever I want. As boring as it may sound, usually that means I get to lounge around in PJ’s, eat a big bowl of ice cream, take a super long bath, and lots of blogging. I love it! It’s the perfect mini-break I need to recharge, catch-up, relax, and not having to worry about all the needs of little ones for 24 hours or so. It’s always the best gift I receive and my husband and boys have a fabulous time on their trip as well so it is a win-win situation! This is just one of the ways that my husband shows me that he cares and reaffirms to me how much he appreciates all that I do. He usually comes home from the trip extra grateful for all that I do!
