A good friend of ours brought over this chili cheese burrito recipe for dinner for us way back with our very first baby. You expect to see casseroles and similar meals when someone brings over a meal. Instead, she brought over this dish! I’d never had something like them before but they have since become an easy go-to recipe our family has used ever since!
What’s great is, you can make up a double batch and freeze a tray of the chili cheese burrito recipe either as individual burritos or for a family meal. That makes this a perfect, easy meal for busy families!
I’m participating in the McCormick’s Skillet Sauce® blogger campaign and received compensation as part of the program. All opinions are my own.
Chili Cheese Burrito Recipe
- Chili McCormick Skillet Sauces
- 1 lb Ground Hamburger
- 1 can Kidney Beans
- 1 can Petite Diced Tomatoes
- Shredded cheese
Next, scoop a big spoonful or two of chili onto your tortilla. Top the chili with shredded cheese. Roll it up and place it in an aluminum or regular baking dish if you’re planning to freeze the meal or your chili cheese burritos are ready to plate!
We top our burritos with just a little bit of chili for effect, cheese and sour cream. You can also add fresh diced onions, cilantro, salsa, or any other toppings you would like as a garnish.
If you freeze an individual chili cheese burrito, wrap the burrito, or the whole dish dish tightly in ceramic wrap and then aluminum foil to keep out freezer burn. Reheat in the oven at 350° F for 35-40 minutes or until cooked and warm at the center of your tray. No need to thaw first. Or microwave your individual freezer burrito for 2 minutes, or until heated through.
Best of all, when the meal is served my 4 year old tells me, “Mom, you’re the best cooker ever!” The chili tastes great and makes for a really filling, delicious meal the whole family happily gobbles down!
McCormick has release seven varieties of their Skillet Sauces. We found them right by the Taco seasonings in the bean/tomato aisle at our local Walmart. I’m a huge fan of fajitas, so I can’t wait to try that seasoning packet next!
