Pregnancy Update – 23 Weeks!

For those looking for a pregnancy update, I thought it might be about time! I am currently 23 weeks pregnant and we had an ultrasound just 3 weeks ago. We found out the gender for our 4th and most likely last child but have decided to keep it a secret. My husband has a very sarcastic sense of humor so he has loved teasing and taunting those that are extra curious to find out. I still have about a month left of the 2nd trimester so I’m doing good right now. Usually, the second trimester goes really easily for me with very minimal complaints. I do find my self tossing back and forth all night long, but at least I am still getting sleep despite the turns. I do feel a lot more tired overall and often find myself falling asleep by 9 o’clock, but that probably has to do with chasing around 3 other kids all day long! My belly button hasn’t quite popped yet, but it’s just a few weeks away, I think!

23 Weeks Pregnant

Being pregnant always makes me think of all the “what ifs” of life. We often hear about traditional nesting like pulling out the baby clothes and organizing and tidying the house from top to bottom but for me – I always start feeling like I need to prepare more long term needs. We use pregnancy as a time to update our will and ensure each child is accounted for and we are still happy with the arrangements we had thought up in the past.

What steps do you take to prepare for a new child? I’m hoping to actually get around to making some freezer meals this time around!

  2. haha freezer meals lasted for about a month in my house, but it’s a great concept so good luck and I hope it makes life a lot easier for you! Congrats on your pregnancy!

  3. awww congratulations and best wishes! I knew the sex of my last 2 kids too but my ex didnt want to know and didnt want anyone else to know before him so I had to keep it secret all to myself and I DID! : ) I had to laugh about your belly button popping, pregnancy belly buttons remind me of the turkey done timers that pop when the turkey is done haha

  4. I know you are much further along now and I hope things are going good.  I’m pregnant too (with my 3rd) and sometimes it’s a killer.  I hardly blog anymore because I am so tired (not as tired as my first trimester!)  Keep up the good work and thanks for all you share!

  5. Enjoy the second trimester as long as you can! I know when I was pregnant with my son, the first trimester was filled with nausea and cravings and sore breasts, and the third trimester was filled with fatigue, moodiness, an achy back, and insomnia, but the second trimester I felt GREAT! Enjoy this time!

  6. I think your way of updating your will and making sure everything that you need to take care of legally and financially is a wonderful way to prepare for another addition to the family.  You are being very smart, because when I was having kids many years ago, I never thought of it. I think of it now, though, now that they are grown up and gone out on their own.  Good for y’all!

  7. Congratulations! I have 5 children and I actually did the whole nesting thing lol , a day before i went into labor I painted the whole nursery, i know we shouldn’t paint being pregnant but i had every window and fan on I could think of, I just couldn’t resist I knew she was coming soon, the next morning I woke up to my water breaking!

  8. I am 10 weeks and we were thinking about either not finding out or just having just DH know what the sex is. We already have 2 boys and I feel that this baby is another boy! Unfortunately, We are going to have to stop having babies because they are just getting too expensive and your finances are not great right now. Dh thinks this baby is a girl, but we will just have to see!

  9. First of all congratulations.  I wish I looked like you when I was pregnant, many years ago.  My gosh, I remember nesting and I pulled all of the furniture out and scrubbed the babies room from top to bottom.  It wasn’t long after that I had my daughter.  I didn’t have time to plan anything.  My daughter came a month early.

  10. Congratulations! You really do think ahead! That’s great – wish i could be more like you!

  11. Congrats! You look great. With my last baby I made 30 days worth of freezer meals a few days before I delivered! It was so nice to have once I got home although my feet were screaming at me by the time I was done cooking lol.

  12. Freezer meals are a must. The last month of my daughter’s pregnancy I made lots of freezer meals, which she was able to use for the first couple of weeks. Another easy thing we did was make egg burritos and freeze them. These can go straight from the freezer into the microwave for 2 minutes… breakfast is done!

It’s always a good idea to update the will as well.  Hope you continue to feel well.

  13. Congrats- I am actually a bit ahead at 26 weeks- I also have 3 kids 5 and under, so this is my fourth as well-  I always enjoy this part of it, I feel much stronger and I can feel the baby moving around in there- it is one of my favorite things about being pregnant.

  14. Congrats on your pregnancy! I think it is a good idea to keep the baby’s sex a secret! Than people you know will be so suprised!
