5 Fun Facts About Playtime + LEGO DUPLO Review

LEGO DUPLO offers fun products that encourage playtime and the learning and bonding that can naturally occur at the same time. We had a great time as a family playing with two of LEGO DUPLO’s newest product lines! We started with a LEGO DUPLO Read & Build play set. This line of play sets includes three different sets to choose from and we selected the Let’s Go Vroom set as my little boys love cars and airplanes so I knew they would love this set.

LEGO DUPLO Read & Build

We started playtime with reading the story one time through to share story time together as a nice winding down evening activity. After reading the story, it was time to play! We went through each page of the book building and playing right along with the story. My 4 year old wanted to play as the airplane and followed along as the character in the story flew around the room in search of the race car to rescue. A few pages later, it was time to build the race car for my 2 year old. Then, their favorite part, was the “race” home that took place in the story. They both loved racing around our family room with their creations!

We then pulled out the LEGO DUPLO Creative Cakes set that features pieces to make birthday cakes, cupcakes, and other treats! My boys loved the cupcake liners and candles and thought it was so much fun to build their own little cakes. I loved the creations they would come up with which were even more fun for both boys as they each just celebrated their birthday’s in the past few weeks. We of course had to sing “Happy Birthday” to them and watch as they blew out the candles on each of their creations!

Five Fun Facts about Playtime!

LEGO DUPLO Creative Cakes

1). Play is a timeless feature of human societies, and when combined with 21st century learning it provides children and adults with opportunities to experiment with their surroundings as a form of problem solving.

2). Through play, children explore and develop their multiple senses, which creates more brain synapses. This in turn contributes to a child’s overall intelligence.

3). While playing, children can stretch and bend reality. All rules can be broken and all kinds of new rules can be invented.

4). When children play with their adults, it creates a stronger bond between them.

5). Play has a direct link to early literacy experiences.

  1. That is such a creative idea! My kids love Legos and although they are too old for Duplos now they would have loved this when they were younger.
