Genghis Grill Gets Family Friendly Updates & Review!

I received a Genghis Grill gift card to check out their menu. All opinions are my own.

Going out to eat is a lot of fun, but often it starts to feel like the same ol’ options time and time again. Genghis Grill offers something totally unique in the fast casual space with a custom Asian stir-fry concept that lets you make your own meal and have something completely unique every time you visit. They are famous for their build your own bowl where you choose a meal size and then pick out everything that goes inside from the meats, veggies, spices, and even the sauce and base like rice or noodles of your choice.

“It’s actually not a cuisine, but an INTERACTIVE style of exhibition cooking modeled after a centuries-old legend. According to this legend, 12th century Mongol warriors, led by the mighty warrior, GENGHIS KHAN heated their shields over open fires to grill food in the fields of battle!” – GenghisGrill.com

I was thrilled when I heard about Genghis Grill and their concept and that they had a location near me. It was also great to hear all the ways they were making their restaurant more family friendly and accessible. We were able to visit our local store and try out the menu. While they now have menu options, the build your own bowl option is just too fun that we all wanted to try building our own meals. Above you can see just some of the stations where you get to pick out your own meal items. You’re given a bowl to fill with whatever items you would like and then sent on your way down the line. While my restaurant had buffet style selections where you can add just what you want, some of the chains are making things easier by having an employee help you dish up all your selections based on what you request so you can take a tot along with you in your arms and still get everything you’d like filled into your bowl.

After I had my selections, it was time to pick out a sauce. There are TONS of sauces to pick from and little tester spoons so you can sample them right then as well. I love teriyaki so I immediately tried that sauce first. The employee there to help recommended that if I liked the teriyaki sauce I should try the 3G sauce as well before choosing. They were both great, I decided to go for the 3G sauce which is a bit less tropical.

Doesn’t my bowl look amazing!? It was so incredibly good!! I loved everything I had picked out! The meats came out with a light crispy crunch of seasoning on them that made them so very flavorful! My bowl had polish sausage, sliced beef, sirloin steak tips, and much more. Every single bite I took you could hear me exclaim how yummy everything was!

We showed my kids what the build your own bowl options looked like and also let them take a peek at the kids menu. They all ended up requesting pizza, which didn’t surprise me. They had their own grilled pizzas cooked on a double layer of tortillas, they were pretty cool looking! Their kids meals came with a drink so they were all very happy. What was really unique is that Genghis Grill had a really cool ordering system and game unit right there at our table. This meant my often wiggly 4 and 6 year old boys had entertainment and games while the adults got to enjoy and eat and chat!

We all really enjoyed our dining experience at Genghis Grill. Their meals are a bit pricey than other fast food options, but their concept is more of an in-between experience of quick dining but with service of a restaurant and higher quality food. That means you can get in and out without a huge time commitment but not sacrifice on quality. The regular size portion is huge and could easily be split or size up to the large and you can split it between two people and probably have leftovers to take home!

You can join Khan’s Klub newsletter to receive a FREE birthday bowl! My birthday is coming up soon, so I signed up! There is no doubt in my mind that I want to go back there again for my birthday!!
