5 Ways to Protect Your Family From Germs

Life with kids can be tough sometimes. When I envisioned life as a mom, I never seemed to picture all the germs that come with it! I am not crazy about germs, but I do try my best to keep them to a minimum around our house. As we prepare our home for another newborn, I have been thinking a lot lately about germs and wether or not I am doing everything I can to protect my family. I can’t be the only one who is a little terrified about the thought of having a newborn while there are cases of measles popping up all around me, right? Here are some of the ways I strive to keep my family happy and healthy and as germ free as possible.

Germs

I received compensation for this post, all opinions are my own.

Hand Washing: This one seems like a no brainer, but it really is one of the easiest ways to keep germs from circulating around your home. With toddlers at my house, I know that they need reminders and help to wash their hands properly. Besides making sure they wash after using the bathroom, I am trying really hard to make sure that they wash their hands after coming inside from playing and before they eat. Not just dinner, but before snacks too.

Hands

Surface Cleaning: The cleaner your home, the less germ their are spreading all over. Don’t you hate that? I know I wish that a cluttered home had the same benefits! Keep surfaces of your house clean and free of clutter and wipe them down regularly.

Keep Sanitizer Available:  My kids love to wash their hands with soap and water, but they are really not very good at it! We keep bottles of sanitizer around so that we can access them whenever we need to. They are handy to have for after coughing and sneezing, or quick bathroom breaks.

Do The Laundry: Every moms nemesis right? I don’t mean your everyday clothes, I mean obviously you should wash your clothes, but how often do you wash your linens? Germs gather on sheets and pillowcases especially. Making sure you wash all your linens on a regular basis can cut down on the cross contamination in your house! I try to do mine on the weekend, first thing Saturday morning.

Disinfect Everyday Items: Germs are inevitable. There are some things in life that seem to carry more than others. This is where the UviCube comes in handy. When you have babies and toddlers around your house there are bottles and pacifiers and toys laying around. Everything goes in their mouths and you want those things to be clean. Sterilizing items the old fashioned way is time consuming and involves boiling water and steam. If you have kids you know that time is hard to come by and boiling water and steam can be very dangerous. The UviCube eliminates 99.9% of harmful bacteria safely with UV light at the push of a button. Plus, you can leave those items in the UviCube until you are ready to use them, knowing they are still sterile and clean.

It gets even better. Because the UviCube disinfects without the use of chemicals, heat, or water you can also safety sanitize electronics and other items as well. That means your cell phone, toys, TV remote, and other household items can be put inside and sanitized. My husband, the dentist, always makes sure that we do our toothbrushes as well. I can think of so many things that could easily be thrown in the UviCube, saving me a ton of time and putting my worrying mind to rest.

Besides all of these awesome benefits the UviCube is small enough to fit in any room, it has low energy consumption, and has a universal power supply (works anywhere in the world). You can learn more about the safety, features, and story behind UviCube on their website here. They currently have a Kickstarter running where you can reserve your own for a discounted, like up to $100 off discounted, price. Head over there to get yours quick, you only have until March 23rd!
