Tips for Cleaning When Pregnant

With pregnancy comes a host of different feelings. You can feel happiness and sadness, you also feel exhaustion and nausea…as well as tons of other aches and pains.  You also hear a ton of different things when you are pregnant from what not to eat to what chemicals are not safe to be around. When it comes to cleaning, we know it needs to be done, but what’s safe when you are cleaning when pregnant.

I received a Shark Vaccum in exchange for this post. All opinions are my own.

Protect

It’s always best, especially in the first trimester, to limit your exposure to chemicals. This includes contact with your skin. Use gloves when handling cleaning products. Make sure you clean in a well ventilated area. Leave cleaning the oven to someone else, it’s too tight of a space.

Ask For Help

You know when someone you are close to says “please let me know if there is anything that I can do for you?” Time to cash in! It’s perfectly acceptable to ask your friends or family members for help cleaning. Often in your first trimester (or if you are one of the lucky ones, like me, all trimesters) your morning sickness can be triggered by strong smells or even pushing yourself. Let go, and let them help. It makes them feel great because they are helping, and you get the help you need!

Take it Slow

As pregnancy progresses, the aches and pains will often be overwhelming. You will feel the need to nest, and that’s perfectly normal. But take it one step at a time. You may rush around cleaning and the next day be in pain. Take short breaks as you clean.  It’s okay if you don’t finish it all in one day.

SharkIf you want to make cleaning when you are pregnant a bit easier, having the right vacuum is a huge help. The Shark Rotator Powered Lift-Away Vacuum is the way to go. Extremely powerful, the Shark Rotator Powered Lift-Away uses the latest technology to take your cleaning to the next level. It features TruePet mini motorized brush attachment to grab all that unwanted pet hair, yet can still be used on your hard work floors and carpets. Anti Allergen and HEPA washable filters make this a great option for those dealing with allergies. It’s amazing suction and fingertip controls make it great for anyone to use!

With my current pregnancy (as well as my previous) I suffer from hyperemesis gravidarum-picture the worst morning sickness ever and times it by 100. It leaves me pretty useless and my housework has suffered. I was blessed to have my parents come help out several times a month to get things back in order. When I received my Shark Rotator Powered Lift-Away, my father was the one to put it together and use it for the first time…and all the times since! I asked him what he thought about the Shark Rotator Powered Lift-Away.

Shark“I was immediately impressed with how easy it was to assemble. Had it out and working in minutes. The LED lights are really great, nice and bright. The self propelling is really cool, it just goes. The adjustment for hardwood floors to carpet is all up on the handle, so you don’t have to bend over to adjust it. You just do it there. The head of the vacuum in small and swivels perfect, makes it easy to fit into smaller areas and get around furniture. Best part in my opinion? I’ve owned 4 canister style vacuums…and this one has the easiest canister to empty. Not having to tip it over and shake it into the garbage is great.”

SharkI could not believe how full the canister gets after vacuuming the living room rug. It’s amazing! We filled the canister twice on the first go around with the Shark, and it had been vacuumed the day before. The Shark Rotator Powered Lift Away Vacuum even made my carpet fibers stand up again and look newer than the extreme age it actually is.
