Chocolate Dipped Potato Chips

I love chocolate and salty foods together. Like chocolate dipped pretzels–they are one of my favorite treats! So for a fun salty summer treat that’s easy enough the kids can help, make chocolate dipped potato chips! The potato flavor and the salt of the chips tastes great combined with chocolate and they look really cute, too.

Chocolate Dipped Potato Chips

Ingredients:

  • 4 oz Wavy Potato Chips
  • 1/2 cup Semi Sweet Chocolate
  • 1 tsp Shortening
  • 1/8 cup White Chocolate

Chocolate Dipped Potato Chips ingredients

Start by placing the whole bag of potato chips in the freezer for 1 hour. This will keep them nice and cool, despite being next to the warm melted chocolate.

Melt the semi-sweet chocolate chips and shortening in your microwave cooking in 30-seconds intervals and stirring, repeating until the chocolate is melted. Allow to cool for 2 minutes. Dip your chips in the melted chocolate, shaking off excess chocolate, then place the chip on wax paper to cool and allow the chocolate to harden.

Next, melt your white chocolate in the same manner microwaving for 30 seconds, stirring and repeating until melted. Allow to cool for 2 minutes. Transfer the white chocolate to a corner of a zippered bag and clip a tiny piece off of the corner to use as a piping bag. Drizzle white chocolate across the dark chocolate on your potato chips. Place in refrigerator for 10 minutes to allow to set.
