This past year, we had the blessing of welcoming a new little girl into our family. Becoming a family of four, I’ve realized that there is no better time to start preparing for our family’s future financial needs; most importantly, saving for our children’s education. Because these two little souls mean the absolute world to me, I want to do my best to make sure their future is bright.

The Importance of Saving for Your Child’s Education

child's education

Why: There’s no question that the cost of college continues to rise. In order to help assist your child, it’s important to get a plan in motion. Although my parents made sure I did my part to help save for my college education, the financial assistance they were able to provide was greatly appreciated; I would love to do the same for my children. Can you think of a better investment?

When: NOW! It’s never too early to start preparing for your child’s future. The earlier you begin saving for your child’s education, the greater advantage you’ll have. You can start teaching your children the importance of saving with these ideas.

How: Meet with a State Farm agent. I can’t tell you how many questions I had regarding different options available through State Farm. Being a new parent, I honestly had NO idea how to even start the process. Sitting down with my local State Farm agent Jory Inama, I was able to ask my questions, receive my answers, explore my options, and get my strategies in motion. The most important thing I learned was the importance of starting to save NOW for my children’s future. For more information, be sure to check out these tips for saving for your child’s education.

  1. My daughter is headed to art college soon and I about freaked when I found out how much it actually costs for her to go there.

  2. It is so important to save for your kids education. I have two kids in college now and i am happy i started saving so early.

  3. We started saving for the kids education when they were born. School is getting to be so expensive and i do not want the kids to have to go into debt just to go to College.

  4. It is never too early to start saving for your child’s schooling. We started saving with my baby shower monetary gifts!

  5. I know it’s extremely important to save up for children’s education. My husband and I opened up bank accounts for both of my girls once they were born. We always put money in there for them. We normally put change in their piggy banks and then bring all that money to the bank for them.

  6. With four kids, we couldn’t help them with future education if we didn’t start saving. The cost is only going to go up so every little bit helps!

  7. we’ve never talked much about saving for the kid’s education. We were both raised that it was our responsibility to get jobs as teenagers and save up for it and pay for college ourselves and also work hard and get scholarships. Our parents didn’t help pay for our schooling, so it’s not something we thought about much. BUT the cost of college is growing much higher than when we went through school. IT may be something we will have to help our kids face and something we should discuss more.

  8. My stepdaughter is in college now and it has been really expensive. Now I know in about 10 years we will have three more going in… We are not ready…

  9. We do not save as much as we should for our kids college. My husband is a believer yes help them but he feels that he had to work hard to put himself through college that our kids should do the same. I am hoping that since we are a homeschool family which tend to get scholarships easily that this will be the case for them.

  10. We’ve been saving since before our kiddos were born for theirs! It’s so important… especially here where we live!

  11. It is never to early to start saving that’s for sure. One of the best investments ever!
