Homemade Tile and Grout Cleaner


Spring cleaning is well underway at my household. With a big move coming up, I have started to deep clean my entire home. Part of this cleaning process includes scrubbing my tile floor.

I have tried MANY different methods to clean my tile. However, I recently discovered the BEST homemade tile and grout cleaner. My floor has never looked better!

What You’ll Need:

4 cups water
1/4 cup baking soda
1/4 cup lemon juice
1/2 cup vinegar

 

How to Make and Use
Homemade Tile and Grout Cleaner

Step 1: Combine all ingredients in a spray bottle, putting the water in last.

Step 2: Spray solution onto tile and grout.

Step 3: Allow cleaning solution to sit for 5 minutes.

Step 4: Scrub dirt/grime away using sponge or large scrubber

Step 5: After scrubbing, wash with water

I am SO embarrassed to post this picture of my nasty tile floor. As you can note from the picture, parts of my floor used to have dirt rings and dirty grout.

However, after using this wonderful homemade tile and grout cleaner, my floors now look amazing! As I was cleaning, I was amazed that I could see the difference before my eyes.

I wish I would have discovered this cleaner a LONG time ago. However, I am happy that my floors now look shiny and clean.

Q: Can I make a big batch of homemade tile and grout cleaner and store it? 

A: This solution works best made in small batches and used immediately. You can store it and use within a month. Shake well before use. 

 

Q: How far will this Tile and Grout Cleaner go? 

A: This batch size isn’t huge, but it goes a long ways! I used it to clean my small home in Arizona, which is mostly tile! One batch may go as far as cleaning approximately one kitchen, hallways and entry, and two bathrooms.

 

Q: Is this Tile Cleaner Safe to Use? 

A: Yes! It is made with no extra additives or chemicals, just natural ingredients. You will spray the cleaning solution and let the acid go to work, then just scrub clean! You can wear gloves, if you’re worried about skin contact with vinegar or have any sensitivities.

Materials

  • 4 cups water

Instructions

  1. Combine all ingredients in a spray bottle, putting the water in last.
  2. Spray solution onto tile and grout.
  3. Allow cleaning solution to sit for 5 minutes.
  4. Scrub dirt/grime away using sponge or large scrubber
  5. After scrubbing, wash with water

Notes

Will clean approximately 500 square feet.

Best if used immediately, or store and use within 1 month.
