Keeping Your Outdoors Organized

OK, enough with the excuses. Winter is over, spring is in the air. You should have some bounce in your step again as the sun breaks through the clouds and reinvigorates you. Now is the time to return your home to its former glory – the glory of pre-winter days. And you can’t blame the weather any more.

Don’t Discriminate

There are people who think that when it comes to keeping their house organized, it begins and ends with the four walls of their home. Nothing could be further from the truth. An unkempt and unorganized outdoors reduces the attraction of your whole house. If you are fortunate enough to have a yard there is no excuse for not maintaining it the whole year but even more so in the warmer months.

Cleanliness is Next to…

Assuming that you have not been maintaining your outdoor area, chances are the first thing you are going to do when confronting the disarray is cringe. Don’t waste your energy though. Instead, pull on a pair of gloves and gather everything to a central location and then start sorting the wheat from the chaff.

Garbage needs to be put in the appropriate bin, items that you want to donate should be placed in boxes ready to be taken to the relevant charity, and things that you want to keep need to be put in their correct place.

Storage

Outdoors organized

If you don’t already have one, now might be the time to invest in a shed. Storage sheds are a convenient solution for storing larger items such as bicycles and gardening equipment. Plastic storage sheds are easy to assemble, can be placed anywhere, come in a variety of colors and sizes, are weather resistant, relatively cheap, and usually don’t require a permit. For smaller items such as toys or more frequently used garden appliances outdoor storage boxes such as deck boxes come in very handy. Plastic deck boxes are attractive, and lightweight yet hardy.

Gardening

Before placing the gardening equipment away though, it may be worth actually using it. The winter months have undoubtedly left your garden looking a little the worse for wear. Trim the lawn and any trees that require a sprucing up. Remove weeds and start to return your garden to its pre-winter condition. If caring for your garden is not your “thing,” now is the time to call in your gardener to do it for you.

A Coat of Paint in Time…

The harsh winter weather can do a lot of damage to your home. Check how your outdoor paint is holding up and touch up what needs a dab of paint. If a more comprehensive job is required, it may be time to call in the painters.

Fence It In

Your fence defines your property and its relationship with your neighbors. Unless you want an open relationship with your neighbors and their pets it is worth checking your fence for holes or loose sections. Repair them before the situation worsens.

A well organized outdoor area will be a meeting place for friends, your children, and neighbors. All it takes is a little effort.
