HALLOWEEN CUPCAKE DECORATING IDEAS

Halloween is such a fun time of the year! When else do we get to dress up (and act) like someone completely different and be rewarded with a bag full of candy? Sounds like the perfect holiday to me! But in reality, the most fun part are the parties! Every year, our church holds a “trunk or treat” where whoever would like to participate decorates the trunk of their car and passes out treats and candy from their trunk. We also have a variety of other fun activities – which always includes a cake walk!

Let me show you how super simple it is to make a cute treat that doesn’t take hours and tastes great too!

Here are some super easy cupcake decorating ideas!

Candy Corn Halloween Cupcakes

Whip up a box of cake mix, yellow or lemon cake mix works well so that the color matches your design. When the cupcakes are done cooking, allow to cool before beginning to frost and decorate. Spread a thin layer of frosting on top of the cupcake.

I handmade a whipped frosting from a recipe in my Good Housekeeping cookbook from home. After you have a thin layer of the frosting, pile up a peak of frosting right at the center. This will give your cupcakes the look of candy corn and plus, they’ll stand out with their 3D element!

Next, grab some Reese’s Pieces and use these candy bits to make a circle around the rim of the cupcake using yellow Reese’s Pieces. When your yellow row is done, then it is time to add another row using orange Reese’s Pieces this time.

Pumpkin Halloween Cupcakes

This quick and easy cupcake tutorial uses the same quick shortcuts we used above. Start with a cake mix, or certainly make your own if you have the ingredients and want to. Then, frost the cupcakes with the same frosting using just a thin layer. Finally, Push a Rolo down into the top of your cupcake as your wrangled pumpkin stump!

The point is to show you that you don’t have to scour Pinterest and spend a ton of money or time in order to make something cute for Halloween. Instead of being discouraged, think up what kind of a cupcake you would make!
