Ways for Busy Moms to Stay Fit

Life with a toddler is crazy bliss. I often think to myself, what did I do with all of my time before I became a mom? I know one thing for sure, before having children, I rarely missed a day at the gym. Now with a little toddler running around, I haven’t been to the gym for weeks. However, I’ve found that there are many ways to exercise with your kids that don’t require a gym membership. Get in shape without leaving the comfort of your own home by following these simple tips for busy moms to stay fit.

I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting (#MC) for Urbini. I received a product sample to facilitate my review and as a thank you for participating.

Use canned goods as weights: If you’re anything like me, you have a billion cans of food stacked in your pantry. Using these cans as weights, do a few bicep curls and tricep extensions while waiting for your dinner to cook in the oven.

Play outside: My kid LOVES playing outside. If it were up to him, he would live outside. He enjoys spending his afternoons digging in the dirt, throwing his baseball, and chasing the dog around the yard. I find that an easy way to stay fit is to play outside WITH my son. Involve your kids in a game of tag, soccer, or anything to get your heart pumping. If nothing else, jog laps around the yard while your child is playing outside.

Park far away: Wherever you go, choose a parking spot that is far away from the door. Those extra steps to and from the store entrance add up.

Take the stairs: Whenever given a choice, always take the stairs. Climbing stairs is a great way to burn a few extra calories.

Involve your children: Find ways to involve your children in your daily workouts. Whether it’s holding them while doing squats across the living room floor, having them sit on your back while you do a few planks, or having them give you a high five after every sit-up, your child will love spending this extra time with mommy.

Mix cleaning and exercise: I don’t know about you, but I often work up a sweat cleaning my house. Make cleaning even more beneficial by doing lunges while vacuuming, a few squats while cleaning the windows, and push ups while picking up toys.

Stroller workouts: I LOVE taking my son for walks, hikes, and jogs. Not only does my son stay easily entertained by the trees, flowers, cars, etc. but I love being able to log some miles breathing in the fresh air. I think we both come back from our walks/jogs with happy and refreshed spirits. These walks have become even more pleasant since introducing the Urbini Avi Jogger Stroller into our exercise routine.

I never knew what I was missing before owning my gray Urbini Avi Jogger Stroller. Life before this baby jogger included bumpy rides, little steering control, crappy wheels, and a terrible turning radius. Built for smooth rides, this all-terrain jogger provides comfort and control whether jogging, walking, or strolling. The safety features on this baby jogger give me as a mother piece of mind: 5 point harness, safety wrist strap, and a touch break. I love the fact that I can quickly check on my little guy by simply glancing down at the peek-a-boo window. With my other stroller, I had to completely fold up the canopy in order to see what he was up to.

I have to say, even though I’ve never owned a jogger with rubber tires, I love it so much more than I thought I would. The rubber tires provide a smooth ride and the extra bounce I need to run a little faster. These rubber tires make changing surfaces simple and flawless. This smooth ride lulls my son to sleep quietly and peacefully. Not only does this baby jogger provide a smooth ride, but it maneuvers like a dream! I feel like I have total control no matter where I’m jogging.

Our family has fallen in love with this baby jogger – my son cries every time he has to get out of the stroller. I have a feeling my Urbini Avi Jogger will get A LOT of use over the coming months as I try to stay in shape and my husband trains for his first half iron-man.
