My parents didn’t raise me to understand how money works. In fact, to this day my parents still don’t understand money and I’m slowly trying to teach them and help them break out of their own pitfalls they’ve encountered. Training my parents that have been set in their financial ways for their whole lives, though, is difficult. Despite seeing my example of making our way debt free in one year, they still struggle with understanding finances and have little saved for retirement.
As my young boys are quickly growing up, my oldest is 7, I’ve found myself wanting to teach them how to manage money and to understand finances.
