How to prepare Spaghetti Squash

I have lived many years and there are things that I have hesitated to cook, just because I was unfamiliar with them.  I am sharing this posting, to help you see how easy this is, so you don’t wait 30 years to try it.

You start by cutting your squash in half long ways. Take the seeds and fibers out of the insides, then place your squash face down onto a cookie sheet.

Bake in the oven at 350 for about 45 minutes or until you can stick a fork into to it easily.  That term is called “fork tender”.

Remove from the oven and let set for about 5 to 10 minutes so you can work with it and not get burned.

How to Prepare Spaghetti Squash

Using a fork, carefully pull the squash away from the shell.  It comes away, looking like spaghetti noodles. One large squash can easily serve 4 people, depending on your serving size and what else you are serving it with.

Your shell should be pretty cleaned out when you are done with it.  Then depending on how you like to eat your spaghetti, that is how you would serve this up.  My friend just likes it with butter and salt and pepper.  I like it with a red sauce over it.

Here it is with butter, salt, pepper, and shredded Parmesan cheese.  This was very delicious.  My children love to eat this also.  I hope the mystery is gone and you will explore and try this great squash.

Enjoy life!
