Organizational Tipping Point Update & Results! (PTouchAmbassador)

For those of you that recall, a few weeks back I talked about my organizational tipping point – the birth of my 4th child – and my need to get my children’s bedrooms in order! Now, I’m back to share my results and how the Brother P-Touch Labeler was there to help! It gave me the motivation to get started on a daunting task because creating the labels was so fun and easy to do! I was impressed by all the fun fonts to choose from and even icons and pictures you could choose from as well! I also appreciated that the P-Touch Labeler would automatically recognize and resize the fonts to your tape size so there was a perfect fit each time!

To get started with my project, I took at look at the room and what areas needed the most help and set some goals for what I would do with the area. My biggest areas to work on were clothing, toys, and bedding. I started by changing out smaller and out of season clothing to what was in season and the next size up and get all clothes sorted away. Pulling out the extras gave us a lot more room in their dressers so it is easier to find what they are looking for and clothes aren’t stuffed in the drawer leading to often finding clothes on the floor. I also set up a laundry schedule where each of my children have a set laundry day. For my younger boys, the schedule is just a reminder to me, but for my older two boys, I have used it as an opportunity to get them to help and participate with the laundry loads. They need to bring me their laundry basket in the morning and put away their wash/dry/folded clothes back into their drawers that evening so the laundry basket is ready to be used again. They love the laundry chart and it helps motivate them to help!

The other big aspect that went hand-and-hand with clothing and laundry was the problem with their bedding. Every morning I would come in to find blankets, pillows, and sometimes even sheets ripped off the bed and strewn around their room. I included a check box for making their bed daily to control the bedding from always landing on the floor. This has helped keep the floor bedding free which leads to an overall much cleaner room! I also reorganized and sorted out their bedding into two clearly labeled buckets – one for sheets and one for blankets. These buckets are within easy reach so I can grab extras as needed.

Finally, it was time to tackle the toys! I grabbed the P-Touch labeler and went to work labeling buckets with what was inside as well as age ranges to make it easy to find age appropriate toys when it is time to rotate them since my boys span from newborn up to age 6. I love the results of everything so clearly labeled and easy to see and read! My closets now look so orderly and nice! I even already moved on from my toddlers room on to the nursery (yellow/white theme picture) and labeled all of his buckets as well which will help tremendously when I send my husband or mom into the nursery to grab something they can clearly see where to find the item! I’m hoping to work on my kitchen next and give everything a designated home!

It’s the perfect time with the new year approaching to get started on your own home organizational projects! You can find the P-Touch Labeler systems at your favorite office supply store with a suggested retail price of $39.99 for the desktop model.

Disclosure: I wrote this review while participating in a campaign by Mom Central Consulting on behalf of Brother P-Touch and received a product sample to facilitate my review as well as a promotional item to thank me for my participation.

Everything is so much easier really for everyone when you know where something goes! For small children this is really important it is easy for the to forget or just actually not know where Mom puts things. I bet they like this a lot!
