JusFly’s 5 Family-friendly Cities in the U.S.

Traveling alone or with a significant other is a great opportunity to experience exciting activities. If you’re among the adventurous ones, you may opt for bungee jumping, mountain climbing, or skydiving. However, when traveling with your child, you will obviously have to tone down your things-to-do list.

Going on a trip with a toddler has its challenges, but it also has its perks. Child discounts, free seats, and the occasional special treatment are only few of those benefits. If you’re planning on going on a cross-country trip with your little tot, come check out JustFly’s list of 5 family-friendly cities in the US.

5 Family-friendly Cities in the U.S.

1. Colorado Springs, CO

Colorado Springs is great for families who like to go on outdoor activities that involves hiking and camping. Families can enjoy the scenic view of America’s Mountain by walking at your own pace (which wouldn’t be very fast, if you’re trotting along with your little ones).

While you’re in Colorado, definitely try visiting Cripple Creek & Victor Narrow Gauge Railroad. A colorful steam train runs through this railroad and that surely amaze kids and kids-at-heart.

2. Chicago, IL

Chicago isn’t only known for its tall skyscrapers and modern architecture. The city is likewise prestigious for its historical centers, such as the Art Institute and its broad art displays, which mostly features Impressionist paintings.

The family-friendliness of Chicago is truly noteworthy. Must-see and must-visit places include the wonderful Navy Pier amusement park. Into nature and animals? Why not visit Brookfield Zoo, the 216-acre park that serves as the home for 450 species of animals.

3. Allentown, PA

The old city of Allentown in the state of Pennsylvania is great place for families to learn about the early history of America. Tourist spots include the Da Vinci Science Center, which features numerous colorful and educational exhibits as well as kid-friendly programs that is sure to ignite children’s creativity.

I advise you bring extra clothing, as kids will most likely be tempted by the Slime Game — a slick and slimy activity that teaches kids the important role of slime in animals’ bodies.

4. Virginia Beach, VA

Virginia Beach, a seaside city found in southeastern Virginia, is located at the meeting point of the Chesapeake Bay and the Atlantic Ocean. A 3-mile footpath extends along its shoreline oceanfront.
Families who like to experience the warm outdoors and the wonderful ocean breeze visit this place.

Families should try seeing the Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art to teach young ones about the beauty of modern art. You may also want to check out the Virginia Aquarium & Marine Science Center which showcases the beauty of marine life.

5. Washington, D.C.

The capital of the United States isn’t only historically relevant, it’s also a fun and kid-friendly city that families should definitely see at least once in their lifetime. The neoclassical architecture will catch the interest of kids of various ages. The Lincoln Memorial is a must-see — this huge, somewhat imposing statue is sure to leave young ones awestruck.
