Healthier Habits For Mom

As a mom of two kids very close in age, I have had a hard time loosing the last few pounds from my baby weight. I don’t really mind them, I mean having a body that is able to carry and deliver a baby is my most cherished blessing. But, there is also no reason for them to be there.

I was provided a MommySlim Premium 4-week Diet Kit and compensation in exchange for this post.聽Regardless, all opinions are聽entirely my own.

Tell me if this sounds familiar at all: I wake up and get my kids breakfast. Between getting them cleaned up and ready for the day, reading the story they want, building a train track, and changing a baby dolls clothes 398 times, you realize it is almost 11 o’clock, you are still in your pajamas, and have not eaten breakfast yourself! Come lunch time you eat your kids leftovers and half a bag of goldfish crackers and call it good. When I really stop and think about what I am eating, it comes into constant grazing on convenience food and toddler leftovers! No wonder I have a couple of unwanted pounds hanging around, my body is not getting the proper nutrients and fuel it needs to make it through the day.

Healthier Habits for Moms

Here is where MommySlim comes into the picture. I wanted to try to structure my eating better and develop healthier habits at home. MommySlim is a diet meal program designed especially for new moms, they offer breastfeeding and non-breastfeeding packages that are packed with yummy choices for your daily meals.

Yesterday I started my four week MommySlim program. I chose to participate in the Non- Breastfeeding 1500 calorie a day premium package. Here was what my awesome box included:

The hardest thing for me about my first day was making time to eat so often, as you can see in a sample meal plan here. I am really bad at remembering to eat! I am loving the Cheddar Crunchies and I would say the Chocolate Meal Replacement Shake was my favorite flavor. Also, I really like to blend my Meal Replacement Shakes with ice instead of just cold water, it makes it more of a smoothie consistency. I really like that the program encourages adding good, fresh proteins, fruits, and veggies on top of all the provided foods! I am really excited to keep going. More than loosing weight I am hoping this program will get me in the habit of taking better care of myself!

  1. I have tried several diet programs, and liked some much more than others. I like that this one lets you supplement it with fresh veggies!

    1. That is one of my favorite parts! It mixes things up enough that you don’t feel like you are eating the same thing over and over!

  2. Congrats on getting healthy! I’ve never been on a diet before, because so many of them don’t work. But I have lost quite a bit of weight from just eating in moderation alone and not over eating. I’ve also been eating a lot more fresh fruits for snacking, rather than junk. Best of luck on your journey! Looking forward to hearing your results!

  3. I would love to take off 5 or 10 lbs, so I think I would like to try this.

  4. Your day sounds like my day. Today realized I had not eaten breakfast and it was lunch time. My goal is to get this corrected once the kiddos get back in school.

  5. Parenting takes a lot of time and energy, so it’s great that you’re using this new meal plan to get that energy level up. You’ll need it! Even people without kids can always stand to be healthier. It just makes life so much nicer.

  6. Everyone should take care of themselves, but moms have to be especially vigilant about it. I don’t have kids, but my sister does. It takes A TON of energy to raise kids. Good on you, Janel!
