Summer is a great time to be updating bedrooms and looking for new solutions for growing children or company coming to town! IKEA has some really great options that are worth checking out!

IKEA’s HEMNES Daybed is a great solution if you are looking for more room in your child’s bedroom but the ability to have extra beds for company. Whenever we have guests in town we always would kick my oldest out of the “guest room” and have him share with his brother, but other than when company is in town the bunk bed would only be using the one bed. I was hoping for a solution that would make the room feel bigger and look really nice.

IKEA Setup

I love that this bed can be used as a single bed or pulled out to make a bed for two when needed. My boys have done great sharing the extended bed while my mother has been in town visiting!

It also has two under bed storage drawers, as with kids you ALWAYS need storage spaces!! It also looks beautiful with the HEMNES dresser I reviewed previously! It also doubles as a “couch” during the day to give me a place to sit in the boys room and visit with them while they play and show me all their toys!

IKEA SULTAN FLORVAG foam mattresses were comfortable and I was really impressed how comfortable they were and didn’t notice the slats below me. When not using the bed extended the mattresses stack for a double thick mattress.

This is a great bed and looks beautiful in their room! I definitely recommend it if you are looking for a similar solution as I was hoping for! Or, it would also be really neat in a multi-function room (like an office or craft room) for seating most of the time, but room for company when needed!

IKEA HEMNES Daybed

IKEA HEMNES Daybed with 2-drawers retails for $499. IKEA also offers a 3-drawer white Daybed from the HEMNES line and it retails for $399. Their SULTAN FLORVAG Foam Mattress retail for $99 each.

  554. I would love to have the Hemnes bed. We have a queen now but with the two of us, a teenager who likes to pile in bed with us, and three dogs (including a lab and a pit), it's quite a tight squeeze. Lol. We would love to have a bigger bed. I'm not sure what we were thinking when we bought it two years ago. No, yes I am, we only had one dog at the time. Duh.
