I grew up watching my Grandma make this luscious Homemade Chocolate Pudding for family gatherings and knew I wanted to carry on the tradition with my family. Now, my children love it when we cook this homemade pudding together, which always brings a smile to my face.
Homemade Chocolate Pudding
Ingredients:
- 1 Cup Sugar
- 1/3 Cup Cocoa Powder
- 1/4 Cup Flour
- 1/2 Teaspoon Salt
- 2 Cups Milk
- 2 Cups Heavy Whipping Cream
- 1 Tablespoon Vanilla Extract
- 1/4 Cup Unsalted Butter
Start by combining your dry ingredients in a medium heavy bottomed saucepan before turning on the heat. Combine your sugar, cocoa, flour and salt. Stir to combine well. Next, stir in your milk and cream until well mixed. Turn on your stovetop to a medium heat and bring your pudding to a boil. With the milk and cream, you need to make sure to stir frequently while heating. Once boiling, cook for 3-4 minutes, stirring constantly. Be very careful to watch your pudding and keep up stirring. Don’t allow the mixture to burn or scald or the flavor will be ruined.
Remove your saucepan from the heat and mix in your vanilla and butter. Chill your pudding and serve when cool. Toss your favorite toppings on top, like chocolate chips, crushed oreos, or nilla wavers.
