MobiGo 2 Review

Are you looking for fun and educational ways to keep your children entertained on-the-go or at home? VTech just introduced their MobiGo 2 which includes the great features of the original MobiGo and adds a new motion sensor and microphone! This handheld gaming system is geared for ages 3-8 and includes learning games to build basic skills in math, vocabulary, spelling, reading, logic, drawing, and more! It also has a built-in QWERTY keyboard to help familiarize your child with the keyboard layout. With the new motion sensor and microphone, all new ways of play are introduced like asking your child to give a command or blow into the microphone to trigger special effects! MobiGo 2 comes pre-installed with an e-reader, photo album, photo viewer, art studio, and coloring book. You are also provided with three free game downloads to add to your child’s game library right away with age appropriate games!

MobiGo 2 Review

My nearly four year old is always trying to emulate everything his older brother does but most of our gaming systems and even educational websites are still a bit hard for him to play on his own. When the MobiGo 2 arrived he was so excited to have a gaming system that was just right for his age and stage and that was very easy for him to handle and use. He has very quickly grasped how to navigate around the MobiGo 2 and find different games to play and activate many of the features. I was surprised to see how quickly he picked up on using the buttons, touchscreen, and pointer. Installing new games was really easy to do though the initial setup did take a bit of time to load the firmware updates and install the Learning Lodge Navigator software. There are a lot of games to choose from, but most seem to be geared for a bit older age group. Still, there were about 25 or so apps to pick from that seemed age appropriate for my son. The games that use the keyboard have been a lot harder for my son to learn but they have helped him learn to find and recognize his letters better, so I appreciate the challenge. My son’s favorite aspect of his new MobiGo 2 is the art studio! He loves coloring the pictures and then being able to “shake” the MobiGo 2 up and down or left and right to animate his pictures!
