Stay Connected while Traveling with Skype!

Did you know that Skype can be used even while away from home? With the advances in technology today, you can use your smartphone, laptop, or tablet to use Skype while on-the-go. Using your mobile phone or tablet’s data plan or by connecting to wifi, you can make Skype voice or video calls!

In just a week and a half, my husband and I will be traveling to Oregon on a summer business trip. My husband’s company will be paying for travel expenses to gather all the employees for a meeting and some fun along with spouses. We are so excited for a fun getaway without the kids and before our new baby arrives as a nice escape! We will be gone for 4 full days, though, and I know my kids will be missing us and want to talk to us while we are away. In the past, we’ve relied solely on phone calls which makes it hard to really talk and have a conversation with my little boys ages 5 and under. This trip, we will be using Skype video calling on our smartphones to be able to actually see and talk with our little boys. Our children are very used to Skype calling as we often use Skype to connect with family members that live out of state. I know they will be comfortable enough in front of the screen and we will be able to have a great conversation about what has been happening with them at home as well as letting them see what we have been up to also. This will be a great way to really enjoy my vacation without the constant worry and missing of my little ones as I can still talk to them, even while we are away!

How has technology brought you closer to your friends or family members? Mom Central polled 1,200 moms and compiled their results into an interesting infographic that shows technology is being used more and more to share our families every day moments and connect us with those we love.
