Choosing A New Piece of Furniture

What is your favorite way to shop for furniture? I find that hopping from store to store with my measuring tape gets pretty old, pretty quickly. Not to mention I find that most furniture stores seem to be pretty over priced for my strict budget. The last piece of furniture I bought, see this post, worked out so amazing that when I found a need for some smaller pieces I went straight back to Sauder.

I received compensation and Sauder furniture in exchange for this post. All opinions are my own.

I live in your average, builder grade, 3 bedroom home. We have a decent amount of usable space, but my home is seriously lacking in the storage department. I have very few cupboards in kitchen, the smallest little excuse for a pantry, and one very small linen closet. Because of the lack of storage in my kitchen, I mean I have two drawers total, I end up storing most of my kitchen stuff in my hall closet.

Long story short, I don’t have any storage in my bathrooms. I have a place for our towels but as my children have grown their bathroom has needed a place for stuff like nail polish, hair bows, combs and hair product. Sauder had to have something right? Before I started looking I did some quick measurements so that I would know whether or not the piece would fit in my space. Then I made a list of things I was looking for, color, style, size, etc. Looking for furniture online can be tricky and overwhelming.

Screen Shot 2014-06-18 at 9.07.18 AMSauder makes it really easy to find what you are looking for! I just clicked on the tab at the top of their site that says By Space, and clicked on the image for bathroom. From there I was given the option of several options for bathroom storage ranging from extra cabinets to utility stands. I knew I wanted something white, so by filtering the search results by color and double checking measurements, I was able to quickly select the piece that worked in my space.

The second piece of furniture I was looking for was a new desk for my sewing/craft room. Right now I just have a basic folding table, it works great but is not that pretty to look at. I searched for a desk in home office but couldn’t find anything that I loved. Next I checked the Utility and Garage Tab thinking that if I couldn’t find a desk, maybe I could find some storage for that room instead. That’s when I found this Sewing/craft Cart! How cool is this cart!?

I purchased both of the items, for less that $250 mind you, and a few days later they showed up at my house! I was so impressed by the quality of shipping materials they use to ensure everything comes undamaged. My dad happened to be in town so he helped my husband build our new pieces. They went together so fast and easy, I am positive I could have built them on my own. The instructions are clear and easy to follow. Even my 3-year-old jumped in to help!

I absolutely love my new Sauder pieces and I can’t wait to show you how versatile they both are. The Etagere Bathroom Storage piece holds everything I need it too, and looks really nice!

The Sewing/Craft cart works beautifully, and because it is on wheels I can use it for so many other purposes! Check back in a month or so to see how it looks in my home! If you are currently looking for new furniture, check out Sauder. They have an amazing selection and really great prices.

  1. I’ve never heard of Sauder — so I’m glad to have been introduced to it. And I love the easy assembly.

  2. Wow I have the same storage issues as you do and I am sure alot of people but I never realized how much Sauder carries for this problem!

  3. I love shopping for furniture online. It’s definitely much easier than going from store to store trying to find something you like, and that will fit in your home. My fiance and I also have a teeny tiny car, so we are very limited in what we can actually buy in a store. We have to have almost everything delivered directly to our home.

  4. Okay, first of all, you have a great eye! And second, I love your ideas. If I could, I would have every piece of furniture in my house double as some sort of storage.
