  • ¼ cup maple syrup
  • ¼ cup vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Directions:

  • Prepare your bacon, and chop up the perfectly fried bacon strips in a food processor.
  • Use a stand or a handheld electric mixer to beat your egg whites until stiff peaks form. Then slowly start adding sugar.
  • Add the rest of your ingredients, including the chopped bacon, and fold together, being careful not to over-mix.
  • Fill your Belgian Waffle Maker with your maple bacon waffle batter and cook, following the waffle iron’s directions.

FAQ’s About Making Waffles and Bacon:

Q: Why do waffles stick to the waffle maker?

A: One of the main issues is that the waffle iron plates may not be hot enough. The inside doesn’t cook all the way and then pulls apart when you open the waffle iron. Also, if you have scratched the plates at all, the nonstick coating won’t work as well. Try lightly spritzing with cooking spray.

Q: How long do waffles take to cook in a waffle maker?

A: It usually takes about 5 minutes. You should check your manual for cooking instructions. As waffles cook, they release steam. When the steam stops coming out, they should be about done. Roughly 5 minutes.

Q: Can you substitute?

A: If you need to substitute eggs, you can use one teaspoon of baking soda with one tablespoon of white vinegar. If you need to substitute the baking powder, you can use 1/4 teaspoon baking soda and a 1/2 teaspoon vinegar for every teaspoon of baking powder. I wouldn’t recommend substituting both at the same time.

Q: What goes good on waffles?

A: You can top waffles with syrup, whipped cream, fresh fruit, crushed bacon, chopped nuts, sprinkles, jam, butter, chocolate chips, ice cream, crushed cookies and so much more.
