DIY Lucky St. Patrick’s Placemat

St. Patricks day is going to be here before we know it and to make the holiday even more fun I started on my table décor this weekend! I decided to make up some adorable Placemats using a Gold Shamrock with the word Lucky in them and they look fantastic on my cherry wood table. This is a great project that is fun to make, affordable and allows the kids to help out.

DIY Lucky St. Patrick’s Placemat

Lucky Placemat

Supplies:

  • Black and White Striped Placemat (Purchased from Ikea for $1.09)
  • Gold Vinyl
  • Cricut Explore Cutting machine
  • Cricut Cutting Mat
  • Weeding Tool
  • Shamrock Image from the Cricut Store

Directions:

Head over to the Cricut online design center and upload my file I created. If you want to design the file yourself open a new document and click insert image. Search for Shamrock and click insert image and resize to 4.02” Wide x 4.23” Length which is perfect for the corner of my placemat.

I downloaded a free font called Fishfingers from dafont.com and wrote the word “Lucky” in the middle of my shamrock in size 85 pt. To ensure “Lucky” cuts out of the middle of the shamrock you need to attach the image with the wording, so just click attach.

Now we’re ready to go to our cut settings. Be sure to select Vinyl on the turn dial and follow the instructions on the screen. Once the cut is complete remove the vinyl from your cutting mat and weed out the letters from the center.

Now apply transfer tape to the top of your design and apply to the bottom of the placemat.

Your project is complete, enjoy! This is such an easy way to spruce up your home for the holidays in just minutes. The gold shamrock really makes a “pop” on the tabletop, too. Happy St. Patrick’s day!
