My Favorite Things About RVing

Last summer, our family set off on an adventure! We bought an RV, loaded up our four young boys, and hit the road traveling nearly 5,000 miles over 4-weeks. If it’s any indication that I loved our travels, we are on the road again this summer with a new route and destinations to see.

While not everyone can take a long summer road trip, you can and should try to take the time to Go RVing with your children at some point while they are young. It gives you an experience unlike traditional tent camping and far different than staying in a hotel.

Our summer route last year had us driving 4-5 hours a day and stopping to see amazing, iconic locations along our route including a hike deep inside a cave, a trip to the top of a mountain on a ski-lift, and searching out our windows for wild animals in Yellowstone which was the main destination for last year’s trip. It was a wonderful way to travel, here are my favorite things about traveling by RV!

My Favorite Things about RVing!

My Favorite Things about RVing

You Always Have a Bathroom – I can’t tell you how many, many times we pulled over at a turn-off, rest stop, side of the road or at an official exit to take advantage of our pull-along bathroom. With a toddler in tow and two other young boys, this saved us so much time and sanity!

A Real Bed – Sleeping on an air mattress just can’t compare to the real thing. Even if the RV’s bed isn’t like home, it’s a huge upgrade from an air mattress and feeling every move the person beside you makes. Plus, you’ve got the whole nine yards with sheets, pillows, and a cozy comforter – skipping those sticky and stuffy sleeping bags.

AC and Heat make a HUGE difference – The first time my husband took our RV out he went up to Northern Arizona in the Spring and it got cold. Everyone else from the group were bundled up in layers and a sleeping bag and him and the boys were nice and warm with the heater. When we took off on our family trip in the middle of the summer, the AC was just as crucial! It kept us comfy through the day and night as needed.

Rain? No worries! – Even on a rainy day there are things to do to have fun inside the RV. We had a mini portable DVD player setup in our RV and would line up all our young boys on the table bed. We also packed along workbooks and activity books which let us encourage learning all summer long.

Close to Nature – RVing gets you right there in nature experiencing things you could never recreate staying overnight at a hotel. There is something about disconnecting from the fast paced world and sitting around a campfire talking and building memories together.

Exploring the USA – Last summer we visited a total of 11 different US states. We saw amazing places from dormant volcanoes to active geysers and towering mountain ranges. We live in such an amazing, beautiful country and it so fun to get out and explore and really see our country at that level you miss when visiting major cities and staying in a hotel downtown.

Building Lifelong Memories – The times we spent together are truly moments we will always cherish and remember. Looking back through our picture albums brought up a flood of memories and huge smiles! When you Go RVing, life seems to slow down a pace and you get to live in those everyday moments so much easier without the hustle and bustle of our typical busy lives.

If you’ve never considered RVing, give it a second thought. You won’t be disappointed, you’ll be left counting down the days until you can hit the road again! Visit Go RVing to find out more about vacationing with an RV.
