Protect Your Pet- New DNA Profiles with PetHub

I received Pet Hub collar and Pet Protect 360 DNA kit in exchange for this post. All opinions are my own.

Pet safety is a big deal at our house. Our Siberian Husky, Nova,is a much loved member of our family.

Nova

My kids just adore her and she is so patient and kind to them. We would be devastated if she was lost or stolen.

These are daunting statistics:

  • One in every three pets will go missing at some point in their life
  • Less than 20% of dogs and 2% of cats that go missing will ever return home
  • Only ½ of the 6 to 8 million companion animals in shelters leave to rejoin their original families or are placed with a new “forever” family (the other 50% are euthanized because of lack of space – something no one wants, especially not the people tasked with that horrible responsibility)

I really don’t want our pup to fit in to any of these situations. PetHub offers a variety of tags and collars for your pets that provide multiple ways to get your pet home fast. When you register your pet with PetHub they are given their own QR (quick response) code. This code is printed on their tag and can be scanned by any smart phone and provide identification of your pet. The tag also includes the toll free 24/7 Found Pet Hotline number. With all of these ways to identify and locate your pet, they have a much better chance of being returned to you should they become lost. Nova is currently sporting the Personalized Scufftag Easy Release Digital Pet ID Collar in Purple- ARV $39.00.

But it gets even better. PetHub has taken everything a step further by partnering with the DNA Diagnostic Center to include DNA results with your pet’s information.

“I want my dogs and cats to have every chance possible to get home again,” said Tom Arnold, founder and CEO of PetHub, Inc. “They have PetHub ID tags, microchips, licenses, and now their own DNA reports uploaded to their online PetHub.com profiles.” By safely and securely storing data about his animals on PetHub.com, Arnold takes any questions out of who the legal guardian is of the animals in his care; he has paperwork, that now includes DNA results from a well-established and proven DNA testing lab, to back it up.

I was thrilled and surprised by how easy it was to get our dog DNA tested and registered with PetHub.  Using the Pet Protect 360 program, we used the included supplies to swipe Nova’s cheek and mailed in her sample. By filling out  online form, it is now linked with her PetHub collar and in 4-6 weeks we will receive her DNA certificate and she is just that much more protected! ARV $69.00.

Obviously being a cautious and responsible pet owner is the best protection against losing your pet. But, it brings peace of mind to know that should something happen, we have taken as many precautions as possible to ensure that our pet is returned to us safely.
