We had the opportunity this past weekend to head into our local McDonald’s for a play date and lunch. My boys LOVE McDonald’s! It has been, hands down, their favorite place to request to go out for lunch since they were little. Because McDonald’s has such a fun environment with the built-in play place, cool toys in the Happy Meal and food they love, it’s always a request. So, it was exciting and fun for the whole family to have an excuse to head in and see what would be hiding as the new treat inside their Happy Meal!
Instead of the typical toys, this month McDonald’s is including books in all the Happy Meals! We ordered a Happy Meal for each of our boys, including our youngest the birthday boy who just turned one and got to have his very first Happy Meal!
We were lucky, at our McDonald’s they were able to find the next shipment of books when we asked politely for a bit of variety in the books, so we got to see two of the new books as part of the series! With four little boys and four kids meals, it was so nice to have the variety. Our books were: The Goat Who Ate Everything and Deana’s Big Dreams. We thought both of the books were so cute! My five year old loved the dinosaur in Deana’s Big Dreams that went literally right out of the book and off the page.
In The Goat That Ate Everything, the corner is even bitten of the book, which my boys giggled about every time they would start to read the book telling me that the goat ate their book! It’s an adorable story that tells of a goat that eats all the wrong things until one day they introduce a healthy diet. The message is woven in so seamlessly that it just fits and really works with the story. It’s great to see McDonald’s promoting a healthy diet! In fact, the kids meals come with an extra small fries and apple slices in every meal.
I always do everything I can to encourage reading and the imagination and storytelling skills that come with it with our boys. They love it when I read books to them! My five year old even reminds his big brother that he has to read every day as part of his homework because he wants to go sit beside him and listen in as he reads aloud. I was so thrilled to see books in each of the Happy Meal boxes! It’s such a welcome addition to our home to have this adorable books that the kids truly were excited about receiving!
McDonald’s understand how important it is to foster the love of reading and encourage reading to children. Throughout the entire month of November, you’ll be able to find books in every Happy Meal! There are a total of four books that will be released throughout the month! Head in to your local McDonald’s and collect all 4!
