Okay, as a mom, I literally have 10-15 minutes each day to devote to my hair. That’s why these 10 minute Beach Waves are my favorite “go-to”. Although it looks like I spend a lot of time on my hair, I don’t. I wash my hair at night, let it dry, and it’s all ready to curl the next morning. Plus, curls are always better the second day; so I can usually get away with using a little dry shampoo and enjoying the same curls two days in a row! Super easy, stylish, and perfect for moms on-the-go.
I received samples and compensation in exchange for this post. All opinions are my own.
10 Minute Beach Waves in 5 Easy Steps
1.I’ll be honest, my beach waves always turn out better if I haven’t already washed my hair that day (hence washing my hair at night). However, if my hair is freshly washed, I spray my hair with hairspray, wait for the hairspray to dry, and then brush it out. This gives my hair the perfect texture to curl and seems to hold the curls longer.
2. It’s important to find the right sized curling iron or wand for your hair. For longer hair, I’d recommend a larger barrel. For shorter hair, I’d recommend a medium sized barrel. Using your curling iron or wand, wrap your hair around completely around the barrel. While wrapping your hair, make sure that the curls curl away from your face. This will frame your face nicely. I typically don’t start all the way at the top of my hair, but rather 1/4 of the way down.
3. Because my hair is shorter with many layers, I don’t need a ton of volume in my hair. I find that if I curl the top layer first, then just curl the ends of the bottom layer, it gives my hair the perfect bounce without being too poofy.
4. After you are all finished curling your hair, wait for the curls to completely cool.
5. After your hair has completely cooled, brush through your hair. If you brush your hair before the curls have had a chance to cool, the curl may not hold as well. Let your hair set, spray with hairspray, then you’re ready for a night out on the town!
Hair Problems New Moms Face
Now, as a fellow mom, I bet you can relate to two of my main hair problems: 1. Never having a lot of time for my hair (hence my 10 minute curls) and 2. Losing all your hair after having babies. Let’s be honest, every girl dreams of having long, thick hair. And honestly, I used to, until I had kids. About three months after I had my first child, all of my hair fell out. As in I could pull out handfuls of hair from my scalp at any given moment. My hair became so thin and straggly that I had to chop off my long hair. In the photo below, you can see how long and thick my hair used to be. Insert tears here. Anyways, it took about two years for my hair to grow back. And then I had another baby and the cycle repeated!

I like that the beach waves are quick and easy. My hair is straight and it would be great to add some style to it.

Your hair looks great, and I love that it's something that can be done without having to visit a salon (although as a new mom, it's sometimes nice to visit one, right?)
