A Favorite Family Vacation Spot: Hawaii!

With summertime quickly coming to a close and back to school right around the corner, I have been reminiscing about my favorite family vacations we have been on. Just shy of 3 years ago, we went as a family to Waikiki on Oahu. At the time our boys were 3 and 1 and my husband’s parents and my younger brother joined us on the trip as well! Together we had a great time hitting the beach, snorkeling at Hanauma Bay, heading north to the Polynesia Cultural Center and the Dole Pineapple Plantation and eventually scuba diving with sea turtles! Hawaii is so absolutely beautiful even though we were mostly in the busy city areas during our trip. We loved our drive up to the North part of Oahu and driving through the massive mountains covered in greenery. They were stunning! At one point we pulled over on the side of the road to stop for some family pictures in the coordinating clothing we purchased at the street market in Waikiki. Looking back, I can’t even believe how much my boys (and family) has grown!

Family Vacation to Hawaii

Another favorite moment was enjoying a Dole Pineapple Whip, a soft serve ice cream treat made with fresh pineapple juice. It was to DIE for and I seriously ate two because I knew I wouldn’t get another one anytime soon! Now, I am set on picking up a Pineapple Whip whenever I visit Disneyland, but it’s never quite as strong or flavorful, though still good. My husband have talked many times about another trip to Hawaii and visiting one of the other island. Kauai is at the top of our lists of places to visit!

Which of the Hawaiian Islands would you most love to visit?

  1. I would most like to visit the island of Oahu, but would visit ANY island at all if I could go! LOL I’m not picky when it comes to paradise!

  2. I am from Hawaii and love the island of Oahu.  My Mom was just here stateside for a visit and to spend some time with us while my hubby is overseas.  The kids are constantly asking to go to Hawaii but everytime we plan to go seems another baby comes along =).

  3. What a beautiful trip!  I love Dole Whips and the last time I had one at Disney World in Orlando, I did the same thing you did… had two because I knew it would be a while.  🙂  Great outfits you got there, too!  ~Katharina

  4. I love Maui, but honestly I’d be happy to visit anywhere in Hawaii! And that pineapple whip you described sounds awesome! I wonder if there’s a way to recreate it? It is making my mouth water just thinking about it…
