The air is getting chilly, the leaves have changed colors, and school is back in session. Fall is in full swing and winter is on its way. This season brings lots of fun traditions and new memories to be made. Unfortunately, fall and winter also tend to bring stuffy noses, colds, and yucky coughs. As a mom, it seems like someone brings home the germs and they make their rounds through the whole family. I learned really quickly to keep certain items on hand at all times to be prepared for when illness hits during cold and cough season.
I received compensation and samples for this post, all opinions are my own.
Thermometer
There is nothing worse than having a child who might be running a fever and not having a thermometer on hand to see if they are at risk. Fevers are not something to take lightly with children, especially young ones. A fever is really an indicator of an every day cold, cough or something more serious. Having a reliable and accurate thermometer is a must. Everyone has their preferences, but I really like a temporal or forehead thermometer. They are easy to use and my kids don’t even notice I am taking their temp, so no fights or tears involved.
Tissues
Man alive, I knew being a mom would be messy but the amount of boogers kids can produce is simply astounding. Wipe after wipe, their poor little noses get so red and raw. I always keep a good stash of really soft tissues or nose wipes on hand at all times. You can find wipes that are moistened with saline that are just lifesavers during runny nose season. Don’t get caught unprepared, because once their little noses are red, it is really hard to keep them dry without making the irritation worse.
Maty’s All Natural Products
As adults, we tend to turn to medicine really quickly when we are not feeling well. We all love a quick fix, but the side effects of harsh medicines can be worse than the actual sickness. I am so careful about giving my kids medicine, it is so tricky to find something that will get the job done but be gentle on their little bodies.
After seeing solutions to today’s health issues go hand-in-hand with side effects outweighing their benefits, Maty’s wanted to offer families a safer alternative. They began when their owner, Carolyn Harrington, was determined to help her daughter who was born with severe heart defects. She developed many health products that are so safe and natural, they have absolutely no side effects.
We love Maty’s All Natural Cough Syrup. This cough syrup is made with real Buckwheat honey, one of the most antioxidant-rich honey produced in the US, 10 immune boosting ingredients, and has no harmful side effects. It is gluten free, dairy free, and alcohol free, making its soothing comfort available to kids who might not be able to take other medicines. Do be careful not to give it to children under the age of one, as it does contain honey.
It is so nice to have a product to give my kids when their coughs are bothering them, interrupting their rest, and making them miserable. It can be used by everyone in our family, not just the kids, which makes it easy to keep on hand because we only need the one product. I can’t wait to try their vapor rub, another staple for fighting sickness at our house. Find out more about Maty’s on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, or Pinterest.

When I was little cough syrup had all kinds of nasty ingredients in them but they really did work. I am glad to hear that Mary's seems to work without all the ingredients.

I haven't heard of Maty's but we rely on natural remedies too. Usually honey plays a big role in coughs and colds. We'll have to look out for this product!
