Saving Money During the Holidays

The holiday season is by far my most favorite time of year. What’s not to love about festive tunes, whispers of Santa, soft sugar cookies, and gifts galore? Although the hustle and bustle of the holiday season brings an abundance of excitement, Christmas has the potential to be a very expensive time of year. Looking for ways to save a little cash this Christmas? Explore these 5 simple ways to save money during the holidays.

Saving Money During the Holidays

Budget: Set aside a specific amount of money for each person on your “gift giving” list. DO NOT go over this budgeted amount when holiday shopping. Using credit/debit cards while Christmas shopping can make it hard to keep track of the money you’re spending. To help keep you in budget, pay for your gifts with cash – once the cash is gone, you’re done Christmas shopping.

Shop Year Round: Instead of saving all of your Christmas shopping until a few weeks before the holidays, shop year round and buy items when they go on sale.

Plan: Do your research! Know exactly what you want to buy and how much these items cost. Make a list and stick to your list while shopping. Make a conscience effort not to buy anything that isn’t already written in ink.

DIY Gift and Decor: Don’t be afraid to get a little creative with your Holiday gifts and decor. Tackling DIY holiday projects saves money and adds the perfect amount of personal touch.
