Home Made Baby Announcements

When it comes to announcements, this was the best I have ever received.  It was so much fun to get and open, I just wanted to share it with you.  I hope you have as much fun making it, as I did receiving it.

Items Needed:

  • Shipping box
  • filler for shipping box and gift box
  • gift box
  • egg
  • needle
  • paper for notes
  • paint, or dye
  • glue
  • glitter

To start, you will need to use a needle with your raw egg and make a slit in the side to get the whites and yolk out of.  Once the egg shell is empty you need to let it dry out at least a day.P1100414This picture was taken after we had opened the egg.  It did not look cracked, just a slit.  Then it was painted on the inside and out.  Glitter was added to the outside before the dye dried.

P1100401A note expressing the arrival of the baby, adopted or just pregnancy date is printed and rolled up and put into  the egg through the slit.P1100396You place the egg with the note inside of it, into the gift box with a note glued to the inside of the lid saying “crack me open” Then you tie the lid closed on the gift box and place it into the choice of shipping material.P1100395Bring the shipping material up over the gift box, so the recipient must dig to find the gift box.P1100394Then tape the box closed P1100393Now it is ready to be addressed and shipped.  As the recipient of this announcement, “What a wonderful way to find out the long awaited for, happy news”.  It brought both myself and husband to tears.

I hope you have fun making this.  Would love to hear your story.

Granny to be again 🙂
